Decor to Die For: May I approach the bench?

There is no better way to spruce up your open space then with a fantastical bench!

Gotta open wall? Throw a bench across it!
Got a great window or even a not so great window you wanna make a great window? Put a cute bench under it.
What's that you say? You have a boring bedroom and no where to throw your clothes? We gotta perfect solution for you...yup a fun bunch will
.

The most versatile piece in your humble abode is indeed the bench...here are a few of our faves, must haves, drool worthy, yummm inducing benches...

Oh Wisteria...you had us at ...well you had us at that settee we've been weeping over (more on that later) but you also had us at this gorgeous dhurrie inspired bench.
This is beggin to be in a boring white room or at your dining table in lieu of chairs...

We love how they are multi using this simply sweet bed bench.
A bed bench is the perfect way to finish a room and finish it fast and on the fly. Use to put on shoes or as another piece of furniture to hold you books and clothing...

Hi tiny yet cute Ikat spindle leg bench from Ballard! You are so easy and great! We can throw you anywhere and everywhere for extra seating or just a great accent piece...
And the best part? Besides your lovely price? You come in soooooo many great fabrics! Wooo hooo!

Well, well, well Restoration...decided to actually do something right? Oh wait...you always do! Ok, ok....decided to do another thing sooooo well? Yup...dying over this long, gorgeous, delicate, castered leg industrial chic bench!
This is so long it would be amazing in front of that weirdly long window you have or on that odd blank wall...stack books on it and a tray filled with flowers and voila! See you later decorator! (tear...Top Design come back!!!!)

A bench is an amazing way to kill 2 birds with one stone (hate that saying but it works...right?)
Need a coffee table AND extra seating? Use a wide bench to do the trick.
Find one like this on Ebay or Craigslist...spray the legs with high quality paint and upholster with great fabric and you are done and done!

Uuugghhhh,.....we LOVE a good pair of X-benches at the end of a sexy bed. And these turquoise numbers are perfection in a dreamy neutral room...
For some reason X benches can be a bit pricier than you think but try HSN or Craigslist and see what you find. They are the epitome of chic!

Wow! No words for the hotness that is this room! Yes of course we stole it from a Domino Magazine archive!
I mean the mix of the MW zig zag rug with the vintage Suzani upholstered flea market bench and the red medallion duvet?!?!??!?! PERFECTION! Gonna copy asap!!!!

Weeee! For Weego home! We love love love love love this beautiful 60's inspired bench!
It will perfectly chic up any space you have! A blank wall, window, bed, dining table...you name it. This bench speaks for itself!

Which ever way you use it will work. A bench will save all! No seriously! It will...trust us ;)

Decor to Die For: Love feeling grey!

OK,

So first Miss Me & I were in search for the perfect grey couches and chairs...one of us lucked out and one of us, well....but I am fine...I will be ok with my pearly pick.
Then I became obsessed with painting my dining room grey but could not get my sweet love to trust me.
Then one of my fav ladies needed to redo her super cute apt and we decided dove grey walls and a charcoal grey couch would be divine for her 1920's meets Parisian Chic aesthetic...

So that can only mean one thing....

1+1+1+1 = Suuuuper hearting and coo coo crazy loving grey (or is it gray?) for anything Decor-y!
If white goes with everything, and black goes with anything then that means that grey goes with anything and everything! (See white + black= grey)

wow...hi super perfectly fun yet relaxing bedroom!!!! yummy pop of yellow and love the b&w rug too!

It can be calm and serene or amazingly chic and rich..lets do this!

I think for the sake of this post (OK, for my sake and sanity) we will categorize this post into well..categories...

Let's start with the easiest way to lurve thy grey...on thy walls.

Oh geez...you had us at silver mums! Come on...why do you have to torture us...it's ok...we secretly love it ;)
This gorgeous wallpaper from Wallnut Paper is TDF! Yes please to the 3rd power!

Well, well, well perfect dining nook! How chic and beautiful are you with your stone grey walls and bright white moulding and chairs!

Oh gosh...breathe...breathe... the pale whispery grey on these walls with the pop of bright colors against the crispiness of the white and black furniture accents kills me!!!! (in the super good way!)

bye bye Domino...we super dislike your owners for taking you away....shame on them!

Uggghhh it's perfect and sooo unfussy and totally chicly comfortable....yum.

p.s....don't forget how amazing grey looks in closets!

K, now that I am going to buy some grey paint and take over the living room after those last 2 pics, I think the next best place to go is the next thing Miss Me and I are suuuuper lusting over...grey couches and chairs.
Yummmmmm....we hearty heartville stripes...and grey stripes on a curved wood settee from Wisteria? Yes and Por Favor!
It's soooo sleek and vintage and so, "Oh, we just picked this up at a street market in Paris..." "My upholsterer did it...yeah, it really livens up the space"

Um, I'm sorry...are those RUFFLES!?!?!? Oooops..sorry to yell.
It's just the mix of masculine grey fabric with girlie ruffles really gets us crazy! It's sooooo good! And the vintage shape!!! COME ON..give us a break!
Thank God it's from London so we don't have to worry about worrying how we are going to get it.

Speaking of vintage shapes...
This vintage repro settee from 22 Bond is de-lish! Throw on some JA pillows for pop and you are the chicest lady in all the land...

And for all you modernistas out there...need a modern sofa with out the cold hospital feeling?
We found this great and bright and fun modern couch for you. It's so clean looking with out the sterile feeling. The dove grey will totally lift up any rooms vibe.

Next up on the grey lovers train is a pic of one of the yummiest bathrooms we have ever laid our grey hearting eyes on...

decor pad
OMFG! It's sooooooooooo perfect! Love the pops of turquoise! I'm totally going to copy this one.
It's soooo greyishly, modernly, chicily, monotone-y fantastic!!!!!

One thing that Miss Me and I have learned i our search for the perfectly imperfectly decorated home is that nothing sets the tone and brings together a room better than a rug...

Loving the mix of yellow and grey in this super cute Thomas Paul rug.
The boldness of the pattern married with the chic softness of the grey makes for a very rad and very fun rug. You may not even need furniture with this...just saying.

So this next rug is what happens when you are trying to combine the ideas of your sig. other and yourself...MAGIC! (sometimes)
I mixed me and my bfs ideas on this custom Jonathan Adler Brit rug and cross your pinkies that he will love it as much as me! I loooove mixing pink and grey. It's perfectly hard and soft.

Look at this unbelievably, fantastical, amazing Madeline Weinrib flat weave rug!!!!!
It's the perfect mix of modern and moroccan, crisp and calm and just spectacular!!!!

Ahhh the bedroom...it's a place for relaxation and calm (well, that and making babies!) so it makes perfect sense to have serene, grey furniture there too.

Loving this Industrial Chic, brushed steel Steamer Trunk from Restoration Hardware!
It's soooo Joe Vs The Volcano (oh come on! if you don't know what we are talking about, then you have some very important homework to do!)
This could literally go with almost any aesthetic you have!

You know why they call these fainting couches? Because they are soo glamorously cute you faint when you see them..ok maybe not but this deep grey one from Urban is amazing!

Put this on a blank wall you have in your magic room or living room and you will probably use it just as much as your bed...NO sickos! ..not like that...for cuddling and reading...geez!

Hi there, super yummy upholstered nailhead bed! (that we left the tag on).

Imagine being enveloped in this super cozy and utterly chic bed! We lurve the white crispy sheets against the charcoal velvet!

Not ready to go the distance with it? Afraid of commitment?

Here is one of our most favorite posters/Art ever! We heart and want this suuuuuuper bad...hint hint ;)

Village is an amazingly secret spot we hit up for great prints that no one (not even our shmanciest of friends will have) really knows about...you're welcome and shhhhh!

P.S. Sorry for the repeat offense today (it's a good one at least!) Miss TWH had a looong day yesterday and couldn't quite get her polished paws to finish the one she started...next time!

Don't be cloudy...go grey!

xoxo t.w.h.

Decor to Die For: ABC easy as 123...We heart Typography in the home

Somewhere...somehow...we fell in utter heartville with Typography in the home. It's suuuuper evident the second you waltz in the door.

There are initials at your feet...the couch...the walls...geez louise!!

We are either crazy egomaniacs or we are like dogs and the initial is like us peeing on the lamppost...OR we just super love the look of our initials and letters all over :)

I think the last one sounds the best (and the cutest) so we will take that road.

Not sure how it happened but we got recharged after buying these custom Monogram pillows from our FBF (Fake Boy Friend) Jonathan Adler.

They are the cutest and best prezzie we have ever given to the our house. Thrown any where...on anything...they make the room smile as well as the people who walk by them.
They can be uber customed...front and back and the quality is crazy good.

Then we saw the one and only, Killers on tour and be came obsessed in a really unhealthy way when we saw that their keyboard stand was made up of a marquee lit "K"....kinda like this AMAZING "S"

We searched high and low low low for one in our BFs (the real one) initials but the search ran thin...then we saw it...like a beacon from heaven....our fav store ever had smaller versions in (almost) recessionista prices!!!!

Urban sells almost every letter and they are fantasmical!!!!!

On yet another jaunt around the gorge and crazy (literally) of LALA we ran into the amazing HD Buttercup in search for amazingness. And boy-o-manocheviz did we find it!
Chromed side tables in our initials..

"What's that you said?"...
I said, "CHROME SIDE TABLES IN OUR INITIALS!"
Andrew Martin created rad superhero-esque tables in any letter...

Oui they are tres $$$ but sooo yummy!

What do you put under these amazing tables? How about a typography or monogram rug? OK, so maybe you wouldn't put these with each other (can you say over kill?) but we needed a good lead in ;)

Once again our guru of smile...JA lets you custom a J'adorable rug.

Nothin says my room like a rug with your initials on it.

Want to have letters all over and change them the next day? Try chalkboard paint!

It's like your own personal pop art! Priceless.

Not ready for typography on the walls or floors? Or on a budget and JA's pillows are a tweety but too much? How great are these homemade felt letter pillows we found on Etsy!

They are fluffy Scrabble letters!!!
Cute! And at $25 a pop? Done and Done!

Uh oh!!! What do we have here? Oh nothing....just a hand carved alphabet dresser from Kent and London. Sooooo good! Imagine it painted in a bright color!

Ugghhhh TDF!!!!!
The good news? It's $5000 and the best news? It's from the UK so we don't have to worry about how we can get one ;)

You know what we can have and have been seeing all over town? Bus roll art.

They are vintage and sometimes recreated posters or wood blocks that the bus stations used to post to say where the buses at that station were going. They are sooo cool looking.

So instead of the amazing yet expensive real ones we found this super cute one that would look unbelievable in a little kids room or a bathroom!

Gotta get one of these!

Need a good throw or still gotta grab a great gift? Restoration has cashmere throws that you can have monogrammed!!!

YES PLEASE!!! POR FAVOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Perfection for winter snuggles with your hot cocoa!

Put your "stamp" on it! Get some typography in your casa...or just paint your initials on the wall ;)

Thursday: Bedknobs and Broomsticks

(Princess and the pea)
Recently while on vacation with some friends, we started talking about the beds at the hotel...
The group was split down the middle about whether the beds were amazing or horrible!

I couldn't believe it... I thought that the bed was so soft and comfy I could stay in it forever, my husband thought it was WAY to soft and made his back hurt.

Since our group was split in the middle we could never figure out who was right...

(Lucy & Ricky)
But when we cam home and slept in our own bed, we both agreed that it was super No Bueno! (Perhaps this is linked to my insomnia)  And so the hunt begins for a new bed!

This makes for a happy Miss Me since the old bed came along with us during our move and although it is beautiful, it isn't the right style for the new house!

Here are a few of the amazing beds out there... with so many choices how is a girl to decide what to do?

Well, if I were a kooky millionaire I may spend $28,000
on this floating bed!

(Bed by David Trubridge, a New Zealand designer.)

It is so whimsical and beautiful, it reminded me of this painting by Waterhouse.

Sadly, while I am kooky, I just don't think that I have the funds to buy a boat bed, at least not this one.
But a sleigh bed is a little like a boat, and even better when it is cushioned and upholstered! This beauty from interior gurus Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams is so lovely, you may just want to stay in bed all day. I love the smokey blue color.
This would look fantastic with the Kelly Wearstler for Sferra
bedding!! Oh stop me now I am getting ahead of myself!

Because Restoration Hardware has this stunning Warner bed!  I have been really jonesing for a soft cushiony bed. Being that we have a four poster teak bed right now... This looks like it may be what I am looking for.

The Warner bed is not only a cushiony upholstered dream, it has satin nickel nail heads!!! Calgon take me away! P.S.. This bed is available in a number of colors and fabrics. So if by chance your husband says this one is too "Beigey" then you are in luck!

Ok, so you are gonna have to excuse the really bad brothel style lace bedding in this picture... Remember we don't style these!

Instead of the bedding focus your attention on the actual bed... I know it is hard for me too.
But this bed is really cute, and guess what? It is affordable too!*
(*For an upholstered number)
From The Bean Bag Store of all places!

Feeling crafty? Time to break out the stencils, take a cue from this bedroom done by Catherine Golden winner of Domino magazine's first ever decorating contest
(And sadly their last :() and featured in Domino mag.

(Domino)

Not only did she hand stencil her white bed, she did it with chartreuse, in a baby blue room and then added a lime green throw pillow!! And to top it all off she had her beautiful chair upholstered in white with hot pink banding... This is one girl who is not afraid to mix color and boy does she do it well! Check out her house here

Go ahead and try your hand at painting your bed with this super light and airy 4 poster from Swedish Super Store Ikea!! (We heart Sweden!)
This pretty bed retails for $299 for a queen size!
So recessionistas this one is for you!

Did we mention that we heart Sweden? Well here is another reason. Ikea has this really cute and stylish upholstered bed also a recessionista special at $399 for a queen. Once again, use your imagination to picture better bedding and place this bed in your sunshine yellow room!

Maybe you are looking for something a little bit more cutting edge and unusual?
Well, feast your eyes on this piece of work.

(Photo by Annie Schlechter, Domino May 2007)
Not only is this bed super gorgeous and bold, but I love the benches at the foot of the bed. I don't know who makes this bed.. But I will bet my last dollar it is super expensive!

In the jungle the mighty jungle, you can sleep tonight.
Well, if you have this super fabulous and exotic Ikat headboard from Anthropologie you will feel like you are sleeping in the jungle.

(Anthropologie)
Wow, this is so me I can hardly stand it! But alas, I already have Ikat curtains and I am afraid that would be a little too much even for me!

The direction I'm headed is a little more soft and subtle, I am really loving this bed from Crate and Barrel.
I heart how simple and clean it is and how you could really let the bedding make the statement in your room.

Plus, check out those nail-heads!! Yep, I'm a sucker for them!
The Colette bed is available in three colors.

Remember when we told you about being in super hearts-ville with Pottery Barn Teen?
Well here are two more reasons the love affair continues.

Super clean and chic, the Lewis headboard comes in three colors kelly green, bright pink, and brown. Wow if you had a giant room and three little girls you could be in preppy bedroom heaven! But that is the mommy in me talking.. You could also make a super modern and sleek bedroom for the savvy single girl.

How about this beauty? Put this pretty Tiffany blue headboard in a brown and white room and you just classed up pottery barn teen!
No one will be the wiser!

This tufted velvet version of the Lewis headboard is on SALE now.
So don't snooze! (haha)

Please let us know if there are any wonderful beds we have missed!
Happy bed hunting!
And remember any bed is a good bed, if you have the right person to share it with.
