Thanks mom...we heart you! (last minute moms day gifts...you're welcome procrastinators)

makes us cry every time...like every time.  if you didn't you are a robot

It truly is the bestest, hardest, raddest, funnest, cutest, toughest, sleepiest most smile enducing, heart bursting job in the universe (that's right, we said it...UNIVERSE)

Our moms went through so...SO much for us (we may be angels now but you should have seen us in high school ...and after...sorry moms!) so it makes perfect sense for there to be a day to remind us to remind them how much we love them and are thankful for all they do for us.

Now you are probably asking..."We super love our mamas...but what should we get for them that's different from the usual roses?"   We are so glad you asked!   Here are our fave pics for our fave mamas.

(PS You should never feel pressure to buy anything!   Moms like snuggles, kisses, picnics, sleeping, 50 Shades of Grey...well they DO... cookies, sleep, breaky in bed....see if you are creative its even better)

Our fave macarons in the cutest box from Bottega Louie

But for those of you who LOVE an excuse to buy something super cute for the ones you love...read on friends...read on....

Ok so obvi...every hard working, huge loving, tired mama needs to be pampered and feel as beautiful as she is...what better way then a trip to the one and only Dry Bar!

Let her walk in with stingy hair and waltz out with bouncy waves or sleek sexy shine.   No one does it better.   Oh and lucky you last minute shopper...they do gift certs!   Done and done!

Plus they will serve your mama tea, coffee or champers while she is getting gorge...hello!

From our fave FBF (fake boyfriend) Jonathan Adler is the cutest most user friendly paper weight on earth!   How freaking cute is this?!  Mom is going to suddenly become messy just so she has papers to put this on

Ok so there are FOR SURE at least 3 moms (we just happen to be 2 of them) who die...like seriously freak for pale pink peonies!
This stunningly GORGE arrangement is from my ultimate favorite lux company ever ever ever!  The Alchemist...super hard to explain but once you get it...YOU GET IT!   Nothing comes close to this company... Surprise your lady love, baby mama, or mom with this peony arrangement and she will squeal in delight.

Feel like giving mom some sweets but would rather make her a goodie?   She will be so in heaven with these ridiculously yummy salted caramel chocolate chip bars...  oh yeah you might want to read that again... salted caramel chocolate chip bars.  These are from Two Peas And Their Pod...

Best part about making her goodies...you get to taste test them to make sure they are perfection!  You're welcome.   Recipe here

Rather get your favorite chocoholic a lux chocolate instead?  Well we introduce you to the grand dame of salted chocolates, Valerie Confections.  Her salt and pepper dark chocolate boxes will have anyone squealing in delight...then hiding in closets so no ones steals her chocolates.

Hey dads?   Husbands??   This card will have your lady tryin to make a new bunny as soon as she reads it...yes...this is a good thing!

What super mom doesn't LOVE and amazing candle?  Better yet and amazing candle by the bath?
You can not go wrong..ever..with Jo Malone.  This Grapefruit is one of the best smelling candles on earth.  Its not at all what you expect.  Its perfection!

Thank you Jo Malone for making our houses smell divine!

Loving these sweet and lemon-limey citrus gold drop earrings from a store we should own really,  Anthropologie.

These would be perfect with any outfit for yo mama...

So whether you send a card, flowers, bake a treat or give a present...just simply saying "I love you mom, Thank you for all you do and have always done" will be the gift she will cherish forever and ever...

Happy Mothers Day to all of you moms out there...thank you...we heart you!

Decor To Die For: Cake Stands!!! Be still our drooling hearts!

OK,
So we are all mucho well aware about the eye catching, lip licking, head spinning beauty of a cake. Layers of sweet buttercream sandwiched between soft light chunks of delectible, moist decadent cake.

OH GOD! Not an easy thing for a pregnant girl to type in the wee hours of the morning! GET ME SOME CAKE!!!!

Hee hee...but we digress (WE! I can't believe the jinxies are both pregs at the same time!!...Oppps sorry! I digress again...) ...cakes are gorgeous on their own, yes, but who wants to shove such a tasty treat into tupperware or serve it in a cake box covered in day old frosting (that is from dipping our fingers in in the box in the middle of the night) ?

Solution??? Cake Stands!!!

The Martha in all of us knows how amazing they look and the recessionista we strive to be has found super rad ones that we would be proud to display on a dining table, kitchen counter, or bed side table..hee hee.

Here are a few of our new faves...but trust us you can find amazing ones all over the place!

Let's start with the reason for the post.

My grandma bought us an unbelievable babka from Bea's Bakery and even torn open from the inside out (starving!) it is gorgeous and mouth watering. But stuck in a stinky box?

No thanks!

We need this! Clean, covered, clear and sexy! Adding this to the island...ASAP!

It keeps your sweets out of the mouths of bugs, cats, lazy family members :)

But the rest are A-mazing for serving sweet treats to your loved ones and for special occasions...we swear...they will even make your treats taste better!

Go vintage! Nothing says special delivery like a gorgeous milk glass (vintage or made to look vintage) cake stand!

We are dying for this pink one!!!

And um how fucking cute is this peppermint chocolate layer cake perched upon this gorge green milk glass stand?!?!?!

Get yours here!

Perfect for the holidays!

Wanna put a coconut layer cake high on display in the cutest way?

This blue stand is the one for you!!!

Dear Pottery Barn...we super heart your Emma stand!

Soooo perfect!

And the piece de resistance...we found this perfect tea cake tiered number in a rad store and our hearts skipped a beat or two or three.

Then we saw the price! Lucky for us our mama was right there with us and said "I'll make one for you!".
So we did...we collected vintage cups and plates, a bit of gorilla glue and voila! A simple and inexpensive yet super rad tiered cake stand!

Thanks Mom!

Are you an au natural gal? A barefoot on the beach bride? Good! Now you can make your own plate out of a tree stump! Etsy (of course) has the DIY

So simple, soooo goddess-y.

So what ever cake or treats you like, how ever you eat them, place them on a pretty little stand first...we promise it will make them taste better ;)
But cake platters can be used for soooo many decor dilemmas! Not just storing the delectible deliciousness of a cake.

We have been know to pile them on our kitchen island and counters to hold fruit, flowers, cute salt and pepper shakers, books, candy...what ever cuteness you have laying out!

Decor to die for: Photography!!!

So, it all started with this photographer Slim Aarons, he took amazing pictures of (in his own words) "attractive people, doing attractive things, in attractive places."
We just adore his watery photos so very much that we were all set to go get a huge print of one to hang in our livingroom!..... But then we saw how much they cost!

Now look, we are all for supporting the arts and we have been known to pay what may be considered way too much, on art we can not live without.
But, for some reason this just struck us as really crazy, because, the world is full of super amazing and talented photographers. So we present to you..... Amazing and affordable photography! Beacuse you don't have to spend a million dollars to have a house that looks like this.

(Lily Vanderwoodsens' apartment)

O.K, well maybe you do.
But you can make your place look really cool with large scale photography.
Check out some of the cool artists we found on Etsy.

This beautiful little dandelion puff is just perfect for wishing on. It sort of has the same color feeling as some of the Slim Aarons' photos. We think it would look quite lovely hanging over your bed, sending you off to have sweet, soft little dreams.
This photo is by Every-day-moments on Etsy. Please click here to shop.

This one by Matthew Hyatt is also very cool, kind of modern and fun. Girlie but exciting at the same time. It would look amazing in a little girls room or in a sleek and chic single gals apartment, hanging in the dining room. It kind of makes us want to celebrate! You can get yours here.

So, while searching high and low, we came across an artist named J. Garcia. He is really super talented, you can find his work on his Flickr page here.
He has a blog and a website.... I suggest you go check out his photography and try and contact him through his blog of you are interested in purchase. We have gotten in contact with him about getting a giant copy of the red, yellow and green city scene above. We are going to hang it at the tip-top of or stair case, so everyone can see it when they come in the front door. My husband and I really like the gritty city feeling mixed with the super saturated rasta colors. It is going to look amazing, we are so excited!!

Friends, these are just a small, micro-slice of the amazing and affordable art the you can find out there on the web. We urge you to go and find photographs, art, fashion, whatever you can that makes you happy, and support the artist community that needs our encouragement and support. Don't let your budget limit your dreams, grab your camera and head out the door to make your own artistic statement. We promise you will have a lot of fun doing it and you may surprise yourself along the way.
But, that doesn't mean we are not going to dream about you Slim. We will always hold you in a special place in our hearts... See you in our dreams Mr. Aarons.

XOXO- T.W.H

Color Crave: Pretty in pastel pink...

(Photo: Feministing)
While we are aware that we have bloged about our love for pink before... We are so hearting baby pastel pink right now we had to give it another go.
If you read about color therapy, they say that pastel pink represents compassion and an open heart. Perhaps that is why we are craving this color right now...

For just a hint of this lovely color, Lou Rota makes these amazingly Rocking Granny china plates. You can get yourself some at Not On The High Street.

(Photo: Elle Decor)
Ready to commit, well first answer us this, Are you as bad ass girly girl as the one and only Betsey Johnson? If you have answered "YES!!" to that question... Can we meet you and be your friends? A yes answer also allows you to live in a all pink super chic world like Miss Johnson herself!

The photo above and this one bellow of Betsey Johnson's apartment are both proof that all pink decor when done right, is super swoon worthy and jealousy inducing!

(Photo: Elle Decor)

Can you believe that you never thought of this before? And we always thought we had such a way with flower arranging...
Amazing loosey goosey Peony flowers in a mason jar... with coffee beans!!!!
(Yep we feel it deserved four exclamation points, its that good.)

Now if only one of our closest friends would hurry up and either get married or have a baby girl we could use this flower arrangement at their shower...

Look at your wall.... Is it looking a little bare? Do you need a little Umph? (Yes it is a real word, we think), then how about this simply adorable pink print from artist Faroush? You can grab yours over on Etsy.

(Photo: Faroush)
Now while we have seen this saying on a print before... We are super big fans of this version... Love the little white scalloped border and the black needle, it is so Cinderella and her mice.

Looking for more of a pop? Another Etsy find... JohnWGolden has these pop art, tough girl converse on a pink background. We would hang this one right in the bathroom... We know that may not sound like the biggest compliment, but to us it is... Right over the toilet is a place of honor... It sets the tone for your house's style. Plus everyone will see it!

(Photo: JohnWGolden)

Leave it to Kelly W. to be way ahead of the crowd. When we first saw her guest house in Domino we were a little confused, she had changed up her style on us.. But of course she found a great new one...

(Photo: Domino Magazine :()
Oh, how we covet this tableaux! Oh, how we wish this was our room! The painting, the brass lamp, the amethyst encrusted box.. Perfection!

Look close our loves, and you will see that this beautiful bride is wearing a blush toned wedding gown... Do word exist to say how much we heart that? No.

Another super beautiful lineup of pink comes in this pretty photo from one of our most fave sites, Decor 8.

So pretty.
And this delicious and pretty pink cake would make any birthday girl smile.
These stairs are what inspired this post.. Although I am sad to say that I have had this picture on my computer for so long floating around in my "Inspiration" folder, that I don't remember where I found it. :(

But, I do know that the combination of pink and white stairs plus the super cute Mama and Baby in the background make me really happy.

This baby pink wall with antique mirrors also makes me really happy! Check out that light pink velvet tufted sofa... N.K.Y I wish I knew who made it, I would try and get you a red one!

Another really pretty flower arrangement we found on the beautiful site All Things Lovely. We heart the mercury glass vase and the pretty pink Ranunculus.

Even in little pops pink can always make yo smile, can always make you feel calm and happy.

Open your heart and let a little pink in to your world.
