Yummies: We heart Brinner!

There are few things we heart in this (food obsessed) world more than we heart Brinner...OK...that's a lie...we LOVE to eat so we heart a hole crap load of things...but we uberly heart...Brinner.

You know...how Brunch (ooooh shit we totally heart Brunch!!!) is the time ...and foods...between Breakfast and Lunch? Well Brinner is a smidge different than that...it's actually eating Breakfast FOR Dinner.
What could be better than a stack of Buttermilk Pancakes at 8pm?
Maybe it's the rebel in us that makes us want to eat "breakfast" for dinner...OR maybe it's actually because when it comes to food there should really not be rules...right?!? More fun that way...
From a poll we took...ok...we didn't do a poll but Miss Me and I totally agree one of the best Brinner foods (and best foods on Earth, really) are Huevos Rancheros!

We could literally eat this delish dish at any hour, any moment of any day!
There are tons of ways to make it but if you are at home try this way...

Ingredients
2 eggs- Any way you like 'em
Cheese- Cheddar or jack are the yummiest here
Avocado- Or Guacamole
2 corn tortillas
Black Beans or Refried
Salsa- homemade is best or pick up a great tomatillo from Trader Joes
Directions-
Assemble any way you like! It's all going down the shoot anyway ;)

So let's stick to eggs shall we? They are light enough to eat any time yet hearty enough to fill you right up!

Got extra asparagus and eggs lying around and don't know what to make for Brinner?
Make a fantastically delicious Asparagus Fritatta!

Sounds hard? Nope not even a little!
The best part of a fritatta? They are suuuper easy to do and hard to mess up ;)

We have always dreamt about making a Quiche. They are soooo cute and savory and shmancy (in a 50's housewife kinda way). And after doing a little research (which consisted of eating a great quiche for Brinner the other night) we found out how doable a quiche is!

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, minced
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 2 cups chopped fresh broccoli
  • 1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 eggs, well beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Over medium-low heat melt butter in a large saucepan. Add onions, garlic and broccoli. Cook slowly, stirring occasionally until the vegetables are soft. Spoon vegetables into crust and sprinkle with cheese.
  3. Combine eggs and milk. Season with salt and pepper. Stir in melted butter. Pour egg mixture over vegetables and cheese.
  4. Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until center has set.

Wanna get shmance? Impress your guests? Try a Breakfast (Brinner) Pizza!

Totally gourmet and crazy easy to do. Your guests will think Martha S catered for you...

Breakfast Pizza
serves as many as you'd like

1 recipe either slow rise pizza dough or thin crust pizza dough or buy your own at the local italian shop
Red or white pizza sauce - recipes here
1 16-ounce tub whole milk ricotta
Several handfuls of fresh herbs
2-3 eggs per pizza
Salt and pepper
Any other toppings you would like

Make the dough and separate into individual balls. Mist with spray oil, cover, and leave overnight. If you're going to cook it the next morning there is no need to refrigerate.

Heat the oven as high as it will go - hopefully at least 550°. Shake out each ball of dough and lay it on a sheet of parchment. Top with everything except the eggs. Put in the oven for 4-5 minutes or until it just begins to brown. Crack the eggs into a cup and slip them onto the pizza. Shake on a little salt and pepper and put back into the oven for another 5 minutes or until the yolk is just set and golden.

Let cool for five minutes then eat!

But the very very uberest way to eat Brinner? A huuuuuge bowl of cereal! right??!?!??!

Soooo perfect and easy!

Wanna pretend to be French like us? Use real yogurt (there should be no more than 3 or 4 ingredients...try greek style) and mix with granola or any cereal you heart.

Top with berries and we will be on our way to share with you in an instant.

Love Brinner sooo super much too? Pick up some of these Brinner Bandages for your cuts and scrapes and show your support ;)

Just remember...who says you can't have french toast (yuummmm) at 9pm and a salad at 8am?

xoxo things we heart
