Decor to Die for: Blooms for your rooms!

(Domino)
So, we all have the friend who has that special knack for always having fresh flowers in their homes. Wether it is abundant arrangements all over the house, or pretty single stems scattered throughout.

(Domino)
Seeing fresh flowers just makes you smile, plus it makes every room look that much better!

Look at what these beautiful pink Peonys do for this simple but chic bathroom.

(House Beautiful)
And we don't wanna hear any excuses about fresh flowers costing to much money, because if you go to your local Farmer's market you can find really great deals.

(What's up duck?)
And even though you know how much we heart a beautiful misfit vase, flowers can be held in anything and still look fabulous,

(Domino)
case in point these Sweet Peas in old chinese tea tins.... You could absolutely do this in your home! You know you can, we will even help you find the tins, head over to the Pearl River Market and get yourself some!
(They would also make really cute q-tip holdrs for your bathroom!)

We are fans of both the single bloom arrangements ,that means all the same type of flower together. Like these RIDICULOUS Ranunculus with the amazing green centers and bright pink edges.... In a tea cup!! Thank you Domino mag for the amazing arrangement.

(Domino)
But we also love to mix up different types of flowers and vases to make a bright and sunny display.

How cheerful is this little arrangement? I love the mixture of tea pot, pretty glasses and garden roses.

Another one of our favorite ways to liven up a room is with a vase full of blooming branches.

(Real Simple)
These Cherry Blossom branches look so graphic and modern in a simple glass cylinder.
If you can't find Cherry Blossoms you could use Flowering Quince or any other flowering tree branch you can get your hands on.
They call this process "Forcing a bloom" and it is something you should try near the end of winter when you just gotta get out of the grey days.
Check out this blog post from Habitually Chic for instructions on forcing and some pretty pictures.

(Habitually Chic)
Dress up up your table top with a monochrome color scheme,
(Unknown source)
These white roses in modern and clean glass cylinders on this holy F*%K beautiful marble table has a clean and super fresh look.

We love a beautifully cluttered table, and these red roses scattered on a red table cloth are giving a cool gypsy vibe we heart.

(Domino)
Fresh flowers will bring a luxurious and fresh happy feeling to your home, and you deserve that! So hit your local Farmers Market or Trader Joe's.
(A great place for affordable fresh flowers)
Make your house beautiful everyday.

Decor to Die For: Book...Book...who's gotta book. WE HEART DECOR BOOKS!

Although we are going to keep today's post short (hic up....advil...sunglasses...enough said) it will of course be all you need to get inspired to rehab your pad.

There is really no reason you shouldn't have the room, apartment or home of your dreams...(aaahhheemmm...we are speaking to you JN ;) )

You don't need tons of moolah to update and make your nest ridiculous. It just takes a wee bit of time, patience and smart shopping!

Oh.. the other thing you need to make your place of lovin' unbelievable and soooo chic is 1 or all of these F'n amazing design books we are bringing to you today. You're sooo welcome! It's our pleasure...No need for kisses...just buy us cashmere.

These books are soooooooo inspirational you will probably cry (the good kind). They are from the top 3 designers of all time and 1 from one of the chicest interior design editors around.

You won't believe how great your space will be with a lil help from the best.
Your friends gasp and say, "Wow...geez...someones doing well! You have such good taste! I am super jealous"

Then you say, "Yeah, I didn't know I was great at interior design...but one day I thought, huh I would like to redo my place and voila!"

But no one needs to know you are not design inclined (don't worry most are not...well, Miss Me is but she's a freak of nature)...they don't need to know you had crazy good help with the inspirational books we are about to show you.

From one of the best most understated glam designers...owner of the RIDICULOUS store Chapman Radcliff (which PS is now going away!!!!!) Ruthie Sommers.
There has been a wait list of sorts to get her book, The LA House, and no one knows why but we are suuuper sure it is well worth the wait.

Ruthie's designs are spectacular and oh soooo crave worthy!
Remember this black and turquoise kitchen? Sooooo easy to recreate for yourself!!!!

And how the hell can we get this couch you ask? Oh by grabbing an old couch at a flea market, buying some rad fabric and reupholster like you have never reupholstered before!
Or have someone do it for you ;)

Last night we were lucky enough to go to the new book launch for the goddess of glam....the hotness that is Kelly Wearster.

She has 3 amazingly inspirational (yeah...we know we need another word but that one is perfect so deal with it) decor books to help you on your way.

The queen of Modern Glamour ....
and Dame of less is NOT more.... her new book Hue will make you paint all of your walls and furniture faster than you can eat a plateful of Krispy Kreme doughnuts when you have PMS.

Oh and PS...yes she does look EXACTLY like this in person.

We were dying and wanted to kill her (in a good way!) She is ridiculously gorgeously amazingly beautiful all around.
Not sure if she is a real person or an android sent to Earth to make us feel ugly and untalented.

One of KW besties is another one of our besties...OK not besties, besties...but one of the most amazing designers ever to waltz into our hearts and homes...Jonathan Adler.

He is sooooooo good...every page in this book will make you cry tears of happiness.

His use of fun bright colors, mixed with modern chic pieces and fantastical pottery will cause your abode to explode with whimsy.

You need this book! It will change the way you decorate your space!

And who is KW and JA's bestie? Margaret Russel from Elle Decor!!!!

Elle Decor's book Style and Substance is filled to the brim with gorgeously glam and boho chic rooms to inspire even those who thinks decorating their home is silly.

Now for 2 books that are chalk full of gorgeous, amazing, inspirational, functional, drop dead fabulous, crazy chic, unbelievably luscious rooms and ideas...they will make your heart flutter and head spin!

If you miss Domino mag as much as we do, then grab their book. It is actually a tutorial about how to mix and match ideas and pieces for the perfectly imperfect home. Your place will look like you traveled the globe ;)

Ever had to grab ideas on line for your nest and kept getting routed to Apartment Therapy's sites? We hope so. They are AMAZING!

The best part about their site...all of the places they show you for inspiration are real peoples homes!

Now they have a book out to help you with any thing you need for designing your place!
Everything they show you is with in reach and totally doable and easy peasy to do!

PS You don't have to copy the styles in the book...just get ideas and have fun!
PPS When you are done, invite us over ;)

See you later decorators!!!!

Decor to die for: Closet Case.

You know at night when you sleep and you dream about some wonderful place? You may dream of a beach, or a snow peaked mountain, you may dream of living deep under the ocean like the little mermaid.... Well guess what the girls from Things-We-Heart dream about?

Closets... Perfect, clean, organized, color-coordinated, stylishly edited closets.

But alas, although we may dream of these closets and have even been blessed with a very roomy walk-in closet... (Thank you Mr. Miss Me) Sad as we to report it,  most of the time our closets end up looking like a big old mess!

It isn't that we can't make our closets look like small retail stores, it is just that it takes a lot of energy to KEEP them looking that way!

We have to admit, this picture of one of our favorite fashionable ladies
Miss Nicole Richie makes us feel a wee bit better...

Nicole looks like she is in our closet gang... You know she has some pretty fantastic things in this closet... An adorable mess if you will, but it also looks like a real girls closet... Only she knows where everything is.

Still, the closet of our dreams looks a lot like this...
Organized to the Tee (haha) and so beautifully sectioned off by color... Check out the handbags on the top shelf!! WOW!

Here is another view of this super-duper put together closet... Yummy!
Love the blue paint on the inside of the shelves.. And all those matching hangers!
(Tip, this is the fastest way to make your closet look super organized!)

We don't know who this enviable closet belongs to, but who ever you are, you are one lucky lady! (Or man, with a penchant for high-heels and very tiny feet.)

Speaking of heels, have you seen Mariah Carey's SHOE closet? Yes you read that right, this whole closet, the size of most apartments in NYC is for her shoes!

Hmmm, I wonder if they all have butterflies on the toe, or only half of them.

Listen, we are not saying go crazy and have a giant over excessive closet like Old Mariah... Please don't.

We are just saying that whatever space you have to work with, make the most of it.

Have you ever seen the blog called Making It Lovely? Well please go and check it out. The super cute and very crafty owner of card company Pink Loves Brown
writes this blog and she is always full of great ideas.

Here is her closet... This is the perfect example of making the most of your space.

Wow.. It is like my dreams come to life.. Look at those scarves and belts all snuggled up and happy in their little cubbies.

Crisp and clean, all the pretty dresses in a row.
But wait!! Look at th shoes in the drawers!!
Amazingly clever storage choice. So simple, and such a great way to keep your pretty shoes dust free.

Is it just me or did you just get a Overboard flashback too?
Remember the rotating shoe closet that Kurt Russell made for Goldie Hawn in that movie!?! No...? Okaaaay.

You don't have to have a lot of room to have a beautiful closet, if your place is limited on space, then get a giant armoire and paint it a bold and fun color!

(Apartment Therapy)
We heart the way the purple and yellow compliment each other in this photo add in the mirrored dresser and the pretty chair and you have turned the corner of your bedroom into a stylish "walk-in" closet.

But if you do have room... Then use it! Make it beautiful and glorious, not just a big mess of clothes on the ground and jumbled hangers!

Look at this fantastic shot from Domino (Weep), The person who lives here loves fashion so much that she opted to turn her living room into a dedicated dressing room. The open display of garment racks and shoes works as a form of art. At least to those of us who are also obsessed with fashion.

This delightfully neat and beautifully wallpapered closet bellow looks like it functions as an office as well. When you start mixing spaces you have to be really careful to keep things as tidy as you can so that one room functions well for both uses.

By adding the pretty wall paper, the upholstered chair, zebra rug and the table lamps, this closet has been transformed into a room you actually want to waste
away the hours in.

What happens when you mix design queen Kelly Wearstler with a closet? Well, while we are dying to see the inside of her actual closet, we can only imagine how amazing it is... We found this photo of a closet that Kelly designed. Look at how bold and insane that room is! So masculine! It is like a mini cigar lounge.

Now if you don't know who's closet this is, you just may not be the type of person who dreams of closets...

Because if you are, you recognize Carrie Bradshaw's closet in an instant! Oh to live and die in this closet!! But seriously... Where are those shoes hiding?

What is so great about Carries closet besides the items contained inside, is the greyish-blue that works as a neutral color and lets all the colors of the clothing pop.

Carrie is also a gal like T-W-H and Miss Richie in that her closet is a cute mess... (See the thin-line there between cute clutter and down right disaster?)

It seems that Aerin Lauder has a dream dressing room.

From that insanely insane Crespi desk, to the rows of perfectly hung denim, to the collections of Marc Jacobs Stam bags and Louboutin ballet flats, what girl wouldn't be in dream-land?

So, the question remains, what to do about these closet dreams?

Are you a neat and tidy person? Do you know where everything is and have a minor heart-attack when it isn't there?

If you answer yes, then you are a closet goddess, your closet is most likely amazing and in tip-top shape. Good for you! You are free to go shopping and enjoy adding to your well organized closet.

Or are you like us, you have a passion for fashion and you love your closet to be a reflection of that... But somehow the days get away and the closet falls apart?
If you answered yes! yes! yes! That is me! I dream of a closet I can go to and get dressed in a snap! I long for everything to be at my fingertips, not in the bottom of the clean laundry basket that I still haven't gotten around to putting away!!

Then my friends we come to you with options.

One, read this book. It is the bible of closet organization.

If this book inspires you, but you don't have the time to do it alone or you need a hand, then call in the queen of organization herself.
Miss Tia Young. Be it your closet, your pantry, your home office, anywhere.
It is amazing how her eyes sparkle when she sees a area that needs to be tackled, she was born to bring order to the world.  Give this lady a few hours in your home and your whole life will change.

Option number two, and this is gonna hurt... You have to purge. You have to go through and get rid of anything you never wear. And by never wear I mean that sweater with the tag still on that you just know will look perfect one day... That day just hasn't happened in the past three years.

Can't do it alone? You have no idea what you need and what you want to keep, but really don't need? Are you lost and overwhelmed by the enormity of this job?

Or are you just ready to update your look, refresh your wardrobe.

Maybe you just got a new fella and you want to look great all the time with no option for fashion disaster?

Well then this looks like a job for Wonder Woman! Well at least that is what we call her, other people call her Aubrey Binzer

Aubrey is a Los Angeles based fashion stylist who is gifted with the know-how to walk you gently through the closet purging process, she will let you know in the most honest yet sweet way what you need to keep, what you should ditch, and what key pieces you should buy.

Her full service also includes helping you shop for new items, building an arsenal of go-to outfits, and organizing your closet to look like the dream world you deserve to have. This is such a great service, nothing boosts your confidence like knowing you look your best, and this little lady can do that for you. Contact here

We heart perfect and beautiful closets because it makes getting dressed so much fun! And looking good is feeling good, and having beautiful things around you can cheer you up. Imagine walking to your closet every morning and feeling like the whole world is ahead of you!

(Sea of Shoes)

We hope we have inspired you to make the most of your spaces, your home should be beautiful and inviting in every corner.
