Princess Dew-Drop....

Alright, granted, we can not all be born with a golden glowing complexion with just the perfect sea-spray of freckles dotted across our nose.... Because if we were... Well, think of all those poor super models that would be out of work! The world would be such a horrible place for them if they were forced to be ordinary.

Thankfully though, we can learn from them, or more to the point the genius brains behind their make-up routine...

We are talking to you Gucci Westman.... We hope you hear us and can magically transfer a little of your super powers to us.
Gucci Westman is the woman behind the beautiful women... Well that and she is stunningly pretty herself.

Gucci rose to fame as the international artisitc director for Lancome, who she left in 2008.
She is also the queen bee of the "Dewy look".

You know the barely there glowing from the inside, I'm so young and full of life my warmth is seeping out of my skin look.... Yeah that one...We want it... BAD.

Of course being us... We would mix it with a bold and bright lip... Just to spice things up a little bit.

So, what are the secrets to getting this dewy as a morning rose skin?
We did some investigating and here is what we found.

Step 1.
Wash, wash, wash, Keep your face clean and scrubbed.
Follow our handy acne fighting guide here.

Step 2.
M-O-I-S-T-U-R-I-Z-E!!!
This step is so, so, so important because dry-skin is the enemy. Sun, air, weather, age, the wrong foods, air conditioning, a countless number of forces trying to suck the life and moisture out of your pretty skin.

Make sure you get your neck and decollete areas too... People see that as plainly as they see your face.

This is what Gucci Westman uses on models...

For the rest of us who would love a good moisturizer without breaking the bank,
May we suggest,
Josie Maran's Argan oil... It looks scary but just use it sparingly and let yourself glow!

Step 3.
Place dabs of cover-up where you most need, under the eyes, eyelids, on each side of your nose.... Remember to be light and sparing on this... We are not going full force whole face coverage.
Blend in cover-up with your clean fingers, it works best.
See our concealer list here.

Step 4, 5 & 6.
Once you are all scrubbed, rubbed and blended, you are ready for the finishing touches.

May we suggest, a light coat of warm brown eyeliner on the inner rims of your eyes.

A light layer of creme blush to keep you glowing and peachy,
Miss Me LOVES this one... But you have to have a hand like a butterfly...

Because if you go to heavy you are gonna look like you have your war paint on.
We also love this because you can use it on your lips... Which only makes the color look more natural.

Finish by lightly dusting your face neck and decollete with a little of this on an amazing makeup brush... See our guide here. Key word in that last sentence was LIGHTLY.

Wow look at you! Your so delicious! So dewy and fresh faced... We want to kiss you!

Take your dewy new face out for a spin!
But don't forget your hat!

Beauty Beat... No more smudged eyes, unless we want them that way.

So, I have this problem... Every time I wear my eyeliner, and I NEED my eyeliner, I get little smudges right under my lower lashes!

Now when that is the look that a girl is going for, then bravo and yummy! But when you are going for a strictly day-time look, well that smudge can just be a big NO-NO!

Not to mention the curse of the dark eye circles we were born with... You don't wanna play that up on a sunny day.

I see them all the time, pretty girls with pretty eyes lined in a nice and soft day-time friendly way, but I just have never been one of those girls.
The investigation began... I asked the lovely Miss T-W-H how she always managed to keep her liner in line so to speak and she said to put a light eye shadow on first to set it.

The more and more I looked around the more it became clear, the oils in your eyelids, (gross) make your liner slip and slide all over the place. Setting your eyeliner with a loose powder or a pale eye shadow is a old make-up artist trick.

I already use Bare Minerals (Love it!) So I am going to try this trick today!

Turning up in my endless searches for a fix for my runny eye makeup over and over again were,

Sooooo Many people were swearing by these that I am running to Sephora to try them out.

My beautiful sister Miss B. told me that she got a tip from a make-up artist on set once who put it to a girl straight and said, "if you don't smudge your eyeliner a little when you put it on, it is gonna smudge itself."

Here are the best tips I found on the internet for eye-liner tips and education.

(Taken from the web, not our words. But we lost the link, so if you know who wrote these tips let us know!)
Eyeliner Types
Eye liners come in pencil, liquid or powder. Pencils liners can be found in an assortment of sizes and colors. The fatter the pencil, the more smudged look you'll get, the smaller and harder the pencil, the more precise a line you’ll get. Pencils are versatile since you can use them for sharper, defined lines or create a smudged, smoky look and any combination in between. Liquid liners are a bit tricky to apply, but once you master a perfect line, you will probably love the look. Liquid liners will give a more dramatic, defined look. Powders go on softer but when mixed with a liquid, can go on darker. They must be used with a good pointed brush to apply a thin line.
Liner Application
Top Lids
Apply liner as close to lashes as possible-you don’t want to see any skin color between your lashes and liner. For pencils and powders you can scrub the color right into your lashes so you don’t see the skin tone-particularly useful for very fair complexions with sparse lashes. Smudging pencil liner will help avoid a harsh look. To make eyes look longer or wide-set, start mid-lid and extend liner just past the end of eye, tapering upward.
Bottom Lids
Apply pencil or powder liner sparingly as close to lashes as possible then smudge to avoid a harsh look and help balance the eye shape. To make eyes look longer or wide-set, start mid-lid and extend liner just past the end of eye, blending upward, or just add a small smudge under eyes at the outer corner and smudge upward. For most people, lining the entire bottom lid looks very unnatural, heavy, throws the shape of eyes off balance and makes eyes look smaller so stick with lining no more than half way in on the bottom. Liquid liner doesn’t usually look good on bottom lids since it can look too harsh and can be difficult to apply, but if you do want to try it, hold outer corner of lid taut and apply using quick short strokes if you have trouble making an even line in one thin stroke because of lashes in the way.
Eye Lining Tips
-The thicker the brush for liquid eyeliner, the thicker the line will be and the harder it is to manage a perfect line. Wipe excess liquid liner off on the rim of the tube when you pull the brush out. If the skin on your lid tends to crinkle, the line will not turn out straight.
-To help you get a fine straight line, hold eye lid taut at the outer corner of eye and apply in one long, smooth stroke starting at the inner corner. Always apply liquid liner after shadow application and allow to dry before applying mascara.
-Using oily or slick pencils to line the lower lashes will smear and smudge. Most pencil liners wear off easier, so set it to last longer and prevent smudging by softly brushing some powder shadow over it in black, brown or charcoal.
-Don’t use eyeshadow as eyeliner unless you use a brush with a small, precise, fine-tipped point. And mixing the shadow with water or Visine before applying will give you a better line and a good substitute if you don’t have any liner.
-Over-blending and spilling your eyeliner onto the skin under the lower lashes will make dark under eye circles look worse. Go easy with liner on top lids as well since it will bring attention the dark circles.-Never apply thick or heavy eyeliner to small or close-set eyes or eyes with small eyelids.
-To help correct droopy eyes (your eye shape droops downward at the outer corners), line upper lids starting at the middle of the lid in a very thin line and getting thicker at the outer corners and wing it upward and outward to visually lift eyes and don’t line bottom lids.
-Extend liner past the outer corner of the eyes and upward for a cat eye look, but be careful not to extend too far or you may look like an Egyptian Pharaoh.
-Soften the tip of a freshly sharpened pencil by gently rolling it across the back of your hand or between your fingers. You can also bring a dull, flattened pencil to more of a point without sharpening it by gently pinching and rolling the tip between your thumb and forefinger. You can also salvage a tip broken off a pencil by placing it back onto the pencil, gently pinch, push back toward pencil and roll between fingers to meld them together.

Hi there, it is Miss Me again. See sometimes info like that can be very helpful to a gal. But it seems like the main thing is to use either a primer or loose powder to set those lines straight!

But I am also going to embrace all the new fun eye makeup trends that are going on right now!

Because lucky for us makeup novices, the beautiful colorful liners and shadows that we have been hearting for a while now, are not so prone to smudging as classic black.

But I am also super excited to get on the heavy liquid eyeliner trend we feel headed our way this fall.

Beauty-Fuls.... Vintage Cosmetic ads!

Well if you have not noticed, we really heart vintage advertising. While looking around the web we were struck by how many amazing old ad campaigns made us stop in our tracks... Inspiration everywhere!!

Like honestly, this Angle Face by Ponds ad makes me want to go buy a compact... And wear a blue hat with red lipstick!

Super sexy Revlon ad circa 1950.

And this one is just so sweet, and you know what it is true,
us girls work really hard for that "Natural look men look for".

It takes a lot of makeup to look like you are not wearing makeup!

This is one serious up-do... That can not all be her hair.. But what a cool picture, reflected over and over again! Please someone steal this idea for a photo shoot quick!

Alright, this one is a little creepy.... But really cute none the less.....

Ok, yeah, so maybe just creepy.. moving on.

To the iconic Charlie ad!! We love that this ad
so perfectly captures a huge corporate conglomerate cashing in on the women's right movement of the 1970's.... Woopsie,

We totally mean how it captures the youth and independence of the modern girl.

And this super drop-dead-sexy androgynous photo of the lovely Catherine Deneuve.

Chanel No. 5 continues to have some of the best advertising.

This Revlon ad is just super 1980's cheese, We love it!
Plus, the lipstick color reminds us of our new favorite hue from Sephora, but more on that later.

So these days we know how wrong this is... But we could not resist the super cute photo!!

Please remember to use self tanner people... You can still sit around on the beach with your friends in adorable bikinis.. Just fake it, don't bake it!

Now this picture is up just for the hair...

We can't get over it!

Holy smokes how amazing are these dresses?!
What in the world? How can I get one? No wait... How can I get two so Miss t-w-h and I can wear matching dresses a'la Iman and Kelly Lebrock.

Because really we would look just like them! Pretty much, well kind of, only shorter... and a little more Jewish.

OMG... Could an advertisement that I remember so crystal clear really be vintage?
No we are going to simply call this one slightly last week... or well maybe slightly Junior High... Yes that is it, Junior High ads.

Because if anything says 1992 to me.. It is Cindy Crawford, Revlon and a whole bunch of bad fashion choices on my part.
(biker shorts under boxers? How cute.)

This whole Revlon campaign brings me back to a time when "Super Models" ruled the earth and the actresses just tried to keep up.
A simpler time before Us magazine and lunatic star crazed paparazzi.

A time when young girls wall-papered their bedrooms with Vouge tear sheets of Cindy, Linda, Christy, Helena, Claudia and yes, a time when even Naomi seemed alright.

When Calvin Klein perfume ads were the sexiest thing around....

A time when Kate Moss was the baby and a boy named Marc Jacobs started to design knit hats and tube skirts for Perry Ellis.

Thank you Glamazons... Because at 12 I didn't look a thing like you, but these days, it is nice to remember that once sexy curvy women were the S*%t!

Monday: I'm a Barbie girl, in a Barbie world... Neon makeup!

Listen, I am going to be totally honest with you. Up until I hit 30 (yep!) Miss Me's  makeup routine consisted of: face lotion, lip gloss, and if I was feeling wild...black Cover Girl eyeliner along the inner rim of my eyes.
(Well, there was that brief stint in '91 with Revlon's Toast of New York lipstick, but ALL the girls in junior high were doing it, I swear!)

So, needless to say, my makeup advice is not coming at you with a wealth of experience behind it. But, I know what I like, I know what I want to try and I know what I think is beautiful. You can take these suggestions with that confession in mind.
Lets get into it with my favorite new makeup trend. Neon makeup! Wow, I really never, ever, never, ever thought that the neon craze would raise it's head again... I lived through the days of day-glow zinc oxide, I was happy to see it go. So imagine how surprised I was all these years later to find that I was happy to see it come back!

I just think it can look so pretty when you do this trend the right way. Like Eve in this photo above, who would have thought that electric blue eye makeup could look so fresh and light and pretty. You have to pick either the eyes or the lips and go heavy on that area, then go super light on the other. Because if you do both you will end up looking like this. And honestly who needs that? (Please check link, as I was so obviously NOT talking about Ri-Ri)

Do as the painfully, absurdly beautiful Rihanna does here with the prettiest of hot pink lipstick shades. She keeps it simple with clean black eye makeup and a light blush.

Another pretty pink pout on Alexis Bledel. This bright pink makes her eyes look SO blue!

Want to try out the super pink lip? Here are a few great choices.

Makeup Forever has this beautiful slick gloss, love all the colors but try Fuchsia, Bright Pink, Violet or Tangerine.

For a more opaque look, try this Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited lipstick. They have a new collection of 9 shades of pink, formulated with an innovative pink hybrid pigment. Yeah, I guess that means that this color goes on really pink, not watered down with any other colors. This is pure pink ultra smooth 8 hour wear lipstick. With all these beautiful shades of pink, you are sure to find your perfect match.  Sounds like a win-win to me.

You could also try M.I.A's amazing 2 tone lipstick from the cover of Spin. So amazing!

Moving on to eyes, this is is the most adorable little Rainbow Bright pallet of eye shadows I have ever seen! I would buy this Pop Beauty Lid Neon, just to have it sit out on my bathroom counter... But maybe I should try and use it to achive something like this look from Gucci's Spring 2009 runway show.

WOW!! Super sexy, sultry and bold. I wonder if I have the balls to try this look out. I wonder if you do? Why not? At least lets practice it in the bathroom alone a few times and see how we do. If it doesn't work out, we can always go with the safe route.
These amazing colors from Essie's neon collection is available in a mini 4 pack so you can try them all and have them around for handy touch ups.

Have fun, I know I will!
