Fashion Friday: We Hearty Heart SEQUINS!

Oh, Kate Moss... our Goddess of Fashion and all that is good and chic in the world...thank you for this gorge picture and wearing sequins in all their glory!

TGIF! (Thank God It's Friday) and more importantly for us fashion lovers... TGIF!!! (Thank God It's Fall)...as much as we lovelies here at t.w.h are Summer Lovers and Summer Beach Babies...we lurve us some yummy, sumputous and rich Fall fashions.
I couldn't resist!  This is what we here actually get to wear in the Fall!  Sorry!!!
From the one...the only..the original....Raquel Allegra
It seems like fashion really happens in the fall seasons...and here on the warm side of the continent we get to rock them in all their gorgeous glory! (sorry super cold states :(  we get to be cute even in fall and it usually doesn't involve a heavy jacket).

A few months ago we let out cries of joy and excitement when we heard what was coming down the runways and into our stores...wait for it....wait for it....SEQUINS!!!!

OK...OK... we will try to keep breathing and keep calm...but please just let us have this moment..oh fashion goddesses...THANK YOU!

Now we are uber huge lovers of all that is vintage...especially things from the '70s and '80s so it stands to good...no no...great reason why we are obsessed with all things sparkley and sequined.

For years we have been waiting for this to come back...not that we want every Tommie, Dickie and Harriette to be rocking them, but to have beautiful pieces at our fingertips that we can buy, wear  and save til they are vintage is so divine.

And when Miu Miu put out their fantastical sequined pumps we were brought to our knees...
More more more we pleaded...more!  Give us all you got...so a few seasons later, the storm of sparkle began.

Our patience has paid off!  Every designer from glam to fab and major store that we heart has blessed us with sequined goods.
How gorge is that spotted sequin and leather dress?!?!?!  Ugghhh!!! And that Sequin blazer??? TDF!
Here are a few of our fav sparkly pieces...each one is a piece on it's own.
Mix them up with easy, casual pieces for a "Oh this? ...I just threw this together...Oh really? Sequins are all the rage?  Oh good...then my not trying really paid off " kind of vibe.

Oh wait...there are a few rules for sequins...not many so have fun and wear with reckless abandon...(but just in case you are curious..here they are)

1. Make sure sequins are sewn super close together...almost on top of eachother

This is an example of what not to buy!
2. Do not buy pieces that have the sequins heat set on or glued on or even screened on to look sequin-esque...
Another example of a sequin NO NO

OK, thats really it...just 2 No Buenos and you are GTG.
So here are our fav picks that can be yours too...we left out the crazy shmancy designer ones cuz...come on...we are recessionistas...this year at least ;)

Yummmers Top Shop!  Sequins and Snake?  You had us at hello!
A wee bit cropped but throw a scrumdiddlyumptious A.Wang tank under and tada!  Done and Done!
Cuteness with a capital C!  Loving these black '80s dolphin shorts...although they are not vintage...they are amazing!
How hot with black platform booties or hardcore heels!  Add a grey tee and sweatshirt and your stylish friends wont know what hit them...
Hello Cute ZigZag cami mini dress tunic thingamabob!  Wow go on with your bad self,  XXI (forever 21)

This would be delish over some super opaque black tights and sky high heels!
And speaking of zigzags...as you prob know we are coocoo for zigzags!  This vintage dress does not disappoint..not at all!  So chic and easy and the color way is fab...and sequins!  Yes please!

Oh but PS do not wear with that weird gold belty chain thing.

You know when you search on Ebay and you think...ahhh there is nothing that good...OR ahhh why is all the good vintage uber $$$$...OR why the F does that say "vintage" when it clearly is not...
  • Well...here you go sparkle and fashion lurvers...it kinda hurts to post this because we hearted it soooooo much and lost the bidding but here is a great piece we found...

Another Beauty from Top Shop...
This bronzy gold knitted tunic dress is soo beautiful and sexy with out being overly slutty (we love a tweeny bit o' sluttiness the good kind...not the yucky kind)
This dress would be great with tights and under a boyfriend blazer for a Oooh lala Parisian look.
Hello sassafrass!  What a super hotness silver sequined, high waisted, uber chic skirt you have!
Although we may not agree with pairing such a fun and bold skirt with crazy patterned tights...we sure do think its beautiful and would look amazing with nude heels or (again) black tights and heels.
Imagine a sheer almost rose colored tee or tank tucked in and bloused out the top...yum!
We love us a gooood blazer...the more fitted the better.  So imagine how happy we were when we spotted this gorge number from the amazing Madison Marcus.
Crisp lines...beautiful strong, yet soft shoulders with mattified sequins...done and done...  Pair this with a white gown for a huge gala or just a wrinkly white tee and boy friend jeans and you are probably the cutest girl in town.

Easy breezy would come to mind when wearing Free People's gold sheer sequined tunic.  Throw this on under a sheer tee and you would hug us if we were there with you.  There is something sooo interesting about it...
Pair with leggins and converse....oh be still our beating hearts...oh and a denim jacket too...TDF!
And last but soooooo not least...Gryphon's gold sequin trouser shorts...um hi there fabulousness.
So bold and so amazing.  Perfect for any occasion (well at night)
While everyone is in black cocktail dresses (booorrriiinnnggg),  you can rock these with a languid tank or top and rad sky high heels...done and done and DONE!
Gosh these are good! You know you have it in you to wear the heck out of these!
P.S. There is one more rule...a small one...daytime is when sequins sleep...they really don't like to be up when it's light...think of them as nocturnal

Jinxy! Circa 2004..should have known...
xoxo your gals at t.w.h.!

Fashion Friday: Don't be a late bloomer..heart some bloomers!

Flip flop...flip flop...flip...haaaaaaaaa....Um...um...hawaii.... hallway....crazy cute Japanese girl gaaaasssppppp!!!!!!
Can't breathe...need help.......4 button nautical bloomers...AHHH... love, twoo love!

What is it about bloomers that is just so great?!?

Is it that they are vintage and we heart (almost) everything vintage? Is it that they are really cute and girly and when paired with something just slightly off they look magnificent? Or maybe it's just because they are quite difficult to pull of but when you do your legs look ah-mazing and heads will turn and say "ooh lala she's tres chic!"

CHLOE!!! WE WANT! WE NEED!!! THIS OUTFIT IS TDF!!!!

Bloomers came into the fashion world in the 1850's when they were supposed to be helping Victorian woman stay "decent" if their skirts lifted during activities. But by the 1860's they failed to catch on.
Then a french designer in 1906 tried to make the Harem pant and bloomers popular and failed again...well Mr. Poiret..I guess you are having the last fashion laugh!

They didn't become fashion smashion until the 1970's and boy are we glad they did!

How ridiculously fantastic is this '70's ad!?! Sooooo great!

Now you gorge ladies (and lads) o' fashion...we would love to show you some of our gorge pics of some gorge blooms...

Hello Miss Isabel Marant...why are you sooooo amazing?
Geesh!
You had us at lame' trouser knee high bootie bloomer thingys. They are beyond beautiful! Thank you.
Now if I could only loose 10lbs and grow 4 inches I would be set and buy them ;).

At first Miss Me (who by the way is the queen of bloomer cuteness) and I thought WOW bloomers at American Apparel! Yippie!!

Then we thought...hmmmm those mannequins are uber skinny and of course they are going to look grand and hot in those...So like the faithful retail economy restorers we are we went in for a closer look.
And to our sweet surprise (and trying on a size or 2 larger than we are) they were really cute! Now, maybe we can't, well won't, rock them like the mannequins in the windows but we will for sure rock them.

Hmmm...but what to rock them with? A cute leotard?...sure! Or a above the hip length A. Wang tank...you bet! And if we are feeling super fashiony and skinny we could bow belt 'em and button up shirt 'em like the example above.

Need a great upscale daytime chic pair?
Try on these Elizabeth and James watercolor bloomers on for size.
Pair with a heather grey over sized or shrunken blazer and a tank...some hot ass heels and you are RTG in the hottest way possible. Get ready to turn heads hotness.

Yay for Helmut Lang!
Your drapey over sized bloomers are fantastic! Thank you!

The perfect cut and menswear fabric make these comfortable shorts super sleek and fashionable. Plus the wider leg opening will make your legs look skinnnny.
Pair with gladiators, booties, black modern wedges for a fashion forward look.

Now, ignore the styling or maybe the way they fit on the model on this next great pair of bloomers....it makes them a bit less...um...good.

But styling aside, these Opening Ceremony shorts are truly wonderful. The high waist and pleats paired with the slightly longer length make these super convertible.

Once again, a great blazer and booties or an over sized cardi and pumps would rock with these.

You know we have these next ones in our shopping cart already...
Leave it to Forever 21 to put out a perfect pair of bloomer-esque shorts. They are men's trouser shorts, meets bloomers, meets military jacket....for a shmancy pants look.

This cut would look really great on anyone brave enough to rock a bloomer and at that price you don't have to worry if you have commitment issues ;)

Oh ebay...we super heart you! Even when we forget to look at your wonders everyday we still heart you...and we heart you even more for these beautiful Diabless Bloomers.
Perfect for the fashion savvy recessionista.

These heather grey trouser bloomers are great.
The wide elastic at the legs is really chic, the pleats and low button waist scream Kate Moss and the color?...done and done.
White slightly drapey tank, bright blazer and slouchy boots or Hunter boots and you are ready for the streets of London Town.

So let your fashionable side blossom and bloom. Grab some bloomers and confidence and you will thank yourself.

xoxo t.w.h.

Fashion Friday: We j'adore hardcore jewelry!

Well, well, well Miss Hardcore Jewelry... where have you been?
Hiding in stores like Hot Topic (just kidding...wrong kind of hardcore..we aren't talking spikes on pleather...well we kinda are...huh, wow!) ?  Or being sooo out of reach for us mere mortals that we just have to hope and pray you will come to us...(instead of us slobbering in the windows of Needless Markup and Sux Fifth Ave)

We are sooo uber happy that hardcore jewelry is back...it's so back that when we put links to our fav pieces, you won't poop in your panties from the sticker shock.

Not only has it trickled its way to us but all of the pieces are sooo cool,  sooo unique that you can probably wear them forever!

Hardcore jewelry is a walking contradiction, just like us t.w.h. gals...
ummm, yeah...that's not us... almost ;)

It's a perfect mixture of girly pretty and stinky boy toughness,  it's mean yet at the same time friendly to the eye,  it looks equally chic with a white tee-shirt than it does with a l.b.d. (little black dress), and it's totally au courant but will out live trends.

Each piece is like a fingerprint!  Some of our favorites are super hot and amazing yet we may not be able to pull them off..like they are not quite us.. but then there are others that are also just as amazing and hard and we could totally wear them and they look like they belong to us. (wow super long sentence... I may need to go back to English class)
that's erin wasson..she is the epitome of clash of the fashion in a perfect way

Let each piece find you and vice versa.  And with soooo many lines out there we did a wee bit if cherry picking for you recessionistas out there... hope you don't mind ;)  If you do mind we will be more than happy to show you some other lines that will be oh, so excited to take your moolah.

So enjoy the fruits o' the hardcore mavens.

Yummy yummy yuuummmm!
Thank you Subversive for this amazing piece of art.  So delicate yet soo chunky.

How rad would this look over a Alexander Wang tee or and amazing strapless dress? UUGGGHH we totally need this!

Here's the soft version of Subversive's piece from Forever 21.  More dainty yet still wrong in the coolest kind of way.

And how about these super rad chunky drop chain earrings from Urban Outfitters (we bow down to our temple of inexpensive pieces of art, fun and fashion).

2 side braids, a slouchy tank, skinny jeans and you are RTG!

Speaking of one of our fave stores, we found this necklace that is so sweet, so hard, so cute, so wrong that we stare at it every time we are there but never found the cajones to wear.  Why?

It's the perfect combo of hard and soft!
And we all know how uber we heart pyramid studs!

Wanna feel a lil' Mr T vibe while still being cute and en vogue?  Try this hot ass necklace from F21.
Triple chain over a vintage tee and a blazer?  Hello cute girl... we hope you have a hot date... if not you will get one with that getup.

OOOHHHH Edward Cullen!!!!!!!!  This piece will forever remind us of you!  We heart you and this rad vampire charm.  YUMMM (hee hee oooppssieee...inappropriate!)

OK, the next 2 designers deserve their own post and are the reason for this one.  Thank you Bliss Lau and Leviticus Jewelry!  Thank you.

We lurve lurve lurve this chest necklace from Bliss Lau!
So amazing!!  There are no words!  WOW!

And if that wasn't enough they give us the 1, 2 punch with this unbelievable piece of body jewelry.  These gorge sleeves are TDF!

Now if those 2 pieces are a wee bit too mucho but you still love the idea of body jewelry (ala Alexander Wang show) try these 2 harnesses.
They would look amazing over a wife beater tank and under a tight leather jacket with denim cut offs and boots.  (oops our dream outfit...sorry to push on you!)

Here is Leviticus 5 strand halter necklace.
So Cleopatra circa 2009!

Or the Blisslau more simple version.

Well that's all we got!  Hope you hardcore girly girls can find a piece to suit you and your mean, nice, cute, weird, fun, serious, boy, girl, clean, dirty self!

xoxo t.w.h.

Fashion Flash Friday: We heart Reptile Prints!!

Sitting here in the hot-ass desert that is the fabulous, Las Vegas (it is a desert, right?)  thinking to ourselves... (well actually drinking Lava Flows and chatting away)...

Miss Me:  "Wow it's so hot let's shed our clothes!"  (no sickos.... not nekkid but to our cutie bean bikinis and with a bit o' spf 30)
Miss T.W.H.: "Yes. please. miss me. asap!...let's shed 'um like a snake"
Miss Me: "Hmmmm, you may be onto something..."
At the same time: "Yummm!!  Snakeskin!!!"  (the fabric kind..not the real kind)

There is just something so super rad about snake and reptile print clothing, (if done right of course!)  and we don't mean when it is on spandex or leather... we just mean amazing pieces in done in a fun print.

Now, we all know how leopard print can either be uber fashionista or uber hookerista and the line is very distinct... well it's the same with snake or reptile prints.
One wrong turn and you are headed to a cheesy discotheque,
(this is the wrong way to do reptile)

But go down the right path and you are chic, chic, chic.  Not to mention a step ahead of the fashion crowd.

Our love started somewhere in the '90s when we were mere kids dreaming of fashion and creating looks from salvation army finds...but we were re-awoken (word?  if not, it is now) when we saw these ridiculously amazing dresses on a certain runway show in 2005.  Snakeskin!
Done in the most beautiful designs, and fabrics.  So slinky yet sooo wearable and tres chic!  Yes Please!

Ever since then, we have been waiting patiently for the right moment in fashion to bust a move on snake prints and lovelies....it is time!
Here are a few of our favs at the moment....

Um, hello turquoise blue snake print dolphin '80s shorts!!!  You had us at...well, you had us at all of it!   80's, turq, snake and short shorts???  Done and done..  we are still trying to figure out a great outfit with these but so far we think a vintage tee and booties shall do the trick.  Just try not to pair with pumps (unless they are yellow or 80's) cuz these could take the bad turn.

Now, need your snake served a bit more mellow?  This Helmut Lang tee should be right up your alley.
Just a touch of snake and a sprinkle of cool.  Pair with great jeans or jean shorts or even a high waist skirt.  YAY easy peasy.

How about this super cute dress from Something Else by Natalie Wood?  So cute!
So summery and chic!  Pair with great flip flops (see our No Bueno for help) or fantasmic yellow gladiators and Hello cuteness!

Need a bit o' snakeskin for a glamorous night on the town or for a great party?  Look no further than Miss DKNY.  Great cut, great print and no one will dare to look this hot and fashion forward.  SO memorable.

Um and it was a certain some one's bday but the one thing she was drooling over were these amazing boots from Hunter and Jimmy Choo.

Now, she doesn't really need them but how fantastic would these be under, say an Xmas tree (they are for fall after all and she got sooo many generous gifts already).  P.S.  No Crocs were hurt in the making of these boots (YAY!!) they are fake.

Still not buying the whole reptile thing?  What about this great dress from Thayer?  Such a good piece!

Perf for summer with heels or flats and it can even go into fall with some tights and black pumps and a motorcycle jacket.  We say, great investment!  You should do our stocks (if we had any left).

OK, now the recession is tough, money is tight and fashion is well... mucho dinero... so how about taking a journey to Ebay city and picking up a piece there and making it your own? If you work it, it will work.

How great is this dress.  A perfect statement piece.  It says, "Hello, I am glamorous in a boho kinda way, but confident and sexy enough to stand out in a good way"
We really heart this piece from Jay Godfrey and VH looks great in it too.  Hey VH...it was our bday FYI.. :)  Just saying.

Go have fun with fashion!  That's what it's for!

xoxo t.w.h.
