Decor to Die For: YUMMMMMM we are obsessively in uber heartland with CHEVRON Patterned Rugs & Decor!!! REPEAT OFFENDER!!!

OH NOOOOOO!!!

As much as we lurve to give out our secret of everything that we heart...there are always a few things that we keep as our little secrets ;) hee hee.

As the gorge J.N. says, "Don't give it all away..keep some for you"... but alas we are about to give you a doozy. Because we super heart you!

This obsession with Chevron Stripes and Zig Zags came about for Miss Me and I sometime back while we were searching for rugs for our houses...then she found it... the most amazing, simply perfect, fantastical rug in all of Rug Land.

I threw up a little in my mouth (eeeewww sorry) when I saw it...not out of jealousy (well..maybe a twitty bit..hee hee) but out of total LOVE.

It was like I died and went to Decor Heaven. It was my favorite pattern (weird I know...my mom said ever since JR High, I was into chevron) made into the most awesome rug!

That was it...it began...our Twilight like thirst for all things chevron. And now we bring them to you...you're welcome ;)

Here is the reason this post was made possible... Madeline Weinrib's chevron striped flat weave rug in light red... YUMMMMM.
It's perfect!

This is the kind of rug that will go with almost any decor...well maybe not so much '80s style but almost any decor. It would look amazing on dark wood floors with lighter furniture or maybe even chrome accents.

Ahhhh I want...no no...NEED this rug in my dining or bedroom.

OK, sorry...here we go...I will move on.

Because I was so crazy in heartville with Miss Me's rug, but couldn't decide what to do...I did a wee bit of searching and found West Elm's answer to the M.W. rad rugs. (say that 5 times fast).

The black and ivory one is pretty amazing and will "jazz" up any room.

Have ugly carpet? Throw this beauty on it and it will anchor the room like you wouldn't believe!
Going for more of an ethnic vibe? The brown and cream one would be great with dark woods and beautiful hanging lanterns.

Speaking of wanting to do an ethnic vibe...this gorgeous Dhurrie rug from Wisteria would be perfect!

Its bright and bold (instead of the old red and gold standbys) and could literally be the only thing you need to give your space a face lift...or space lift (we just made that up-ish...kinda...hmmm maybe not).

Umm...hello amazing wallpaper!

So if you didn't notice or you just don't like wallpaper (cuz you think it's too '80s) it's totally making a comeback. The new papers are bold, slick, chic and absolutely fancy pants gorgeous.

This zebra-esque Zig Zag paper from Wallnut Paper is TDF! The way it takes a bland traditional bathroom and turns it into a designers dream is fantasmic.

That's all it takes really...a few bold walls and it looks like you are the next Ruthie Sommers or Kelly Wearstler. BTW wallpaper is the easiest way to transform the vibe of a room.

There are no words...NONE..that will ever help us to explain our undying love for this room. It's fantastic...it's chic...it's like...well... it's AMAZING!

The C.S. drapes are so bold and crisp, even if you didn't have striped walls (super hard to do), they would shmancy your room up.

I showed this to my BF and he actually hearted it too! Wish me luck on getting a room like that in my house. No really...please wish me luck ;). But FYI, I would prob change out the stool and the table...but that wall with those bold chevron drapes is TDF!

Love chevron but not ready to go for it with a rug or on the walls? Try accents of it for a chic look.
Like this gorge chair from who else but Miss Madeline Weinrib.
Such a beautiful piece. So delicate yet it is a statement. It comes in a few colors if the black and white is too bold...oh and if your wallet is a bit loose ;)

Or an amazing pillow (this will prob look familiar if you are a t.w.h. regular) that is sooo beautiful we posted about it in our pillow post!
Throw 1 or 2 on a couch or bed and you are done and done. Chic city here you come.

If sequins are too shmance for you...here is a great one from Twinkle Living.
Yes, Twinkle, the same people that bring you the magical rugs from fun heaven.

I don't know what it is about this pillow that we heart sooo much but what ever it is, it's great! And the price can't be beat (for a designer pillow).

What would a chevron/zig zag post be with out the one...the only... Missoni!!!!!!

This rug is the essence of the beauty of Missoni. How beautiful are the muted pastels married together and bordered in black in their signature zig zag pattern? So striking.

This is literally a piece of art and history. Almost too beautiful to walk on (and prob too $$$ to walk on too) but it was too sexy not to post.
Just use it as inspiration for your own DIY chevron rug!

Have fun! Be brave!

Decor to Die For: Love feeling grey!

OK,

So first Miss Me & I were in search for the perfect grey couches and chairs...one of us lucked out and one of us, well....but I am fine...I will be ok with my pearly pick.
Then I became obsessed with painting my dining room grey but could not get my sweet love to trust me.
Then one of my fav ladies needed to redo her super cute apt and we decided dove grey walls and a charcoal grey couch would be divine for her 1920's meets Parisian Chic aesthetic...

So that can only mean one thing....

1+1+1+1 = Suuuuper hearting and coo coo crazy loving grey (or is it gray?) for anything Decor-y!
If white goes with everything, and black goes with anything then that means that grey goes with anything and everything! (See white + black= grey)

wow...hi super perfectly fun yet relaxing bedroom!!!! yummy pop of yellow and love the b&w rug too!

It can be calm and serene or amazingly chic and rich..lets do this!

I think for the sake of this post (OK, for my sake and sanity) we will categorize this post into well..categories...

Let's start with the easiest way to lurve thy grey...on thy walls.

Oh geez...you had us at silver mums! Come on...why do you have to torture us...it's ok...we secretly love it ;)
This gorgeous wallpaper from Wallnut Paper is TDF! Yes please to the 3rd power!

Well, well, well perfect dining nook! How chic and beautiful are you with your stone grey walls and bright white moulding and chairs!

Oh gosh...breathe...breathe... the pale whispery grey on these walls with the pop of bright colors against the crispiness of the white and black furniture accents kills me!!!! (in the super good way!)

bye bye Domino...we super dislike your owners for taking you away....shame on them!

Uggghhh it's perfect and sooo unfussy and totally chicly comfortable....yum.

p.s....don't forget how amazing grey looks in closets!

K, now that I am going to buy some grey paint and take over the living room after those last 2 pics, I think the next best place to go is the next thing Miss Me and I are suuuuper lusting over...grey couches and chairs.
Yummmmmm....we hearty heartville stripes...and grey stripes on a curved wood settee from Wisteria? Yes and Por Favor!
It's soooo sleek and vintage and so, "Oh, we just picked this up at a street market in Paris..." "My upholsterer did it...yeah, it really livens up the space"

Um, I'm sorry...are those RUFFLES!?!?!? Oooops..sorry to yell.
It's just the mix of masculine grey fabric with girlie ruffles really gets us crazy! It's sooooo good! And the vintage shape!!! COME ON..give us a break!
Thank God it's from London so we don't have to worry about worrying how we are going to get it.

Speaking of vintage shapes...
This vintage repro settee from 22 Bond is de-lish! Throw on some JA pillows for pop and you are the chicest lady in all the land...

And for all you modernistas out there...need a modern sofa with out the cold hospital feeling?
We found this great and bright and fun modern couch for you. It's so clean looking with out the sterile feeling. The dove grey will totally lift up any rooms vibe.

Next up on the grey lovers train is a pic of one of the yummiest bathrooms we have ever laid our grey hearting eyes on...

decor pad
OMFG! It's sooooooooooo perfect! Love the pops of turquoise! I'm totally going to copy this one.
It's soooo greyishly, modernly, chicily, monotone-y fantastic!!!!!

One thing that Miss Me and I have learned i our search for the perfectly imperfectly decorated home is that nothing sets the tone and brings together a room better than a rug...

Loving the mix of yellow and grey in this super cute Thomas Paul rug.
The boldness of the pattern married with the chic softness of the grey makes for a very rad and very fun rug. You may not even need furniture with this...just saying.

So this next rug is what happens when you are trying to combine the ideas of your sig. other and yourself...MAGIC! (sometimes)
I mixed me and my bfs ideas on this custom Jonathan Adler Brit rug and cross your pinkies that he will love it as much as me! I loooove mixing pink and grey. It's perfectly hard and soft.

Look at this unbelievably, fantastical, amazing Madeline Weinrib flat weave rug!!!!!
It's the perfect mix of modern and moroccan, crisp and calm and just spectacular!!!!

Ahhh the bedroom...it's a place for relaxation and calm (well, that and making babies!) so it makes perfect sense to have serene, grey furniture there too.

Loving this Industrial Chic, brushed steel Steamer Trunk from Restoration Hardware!
It's soooo Joe Vs The Volcano (oh come on! if you don't know what we are talking about, then you have some very important homework to do!)
This could literally go with almost any aesthetic you have!

You know why they call these fainting couches? Because they are soo glamorously cute you faint when you see them..ok maybe not but this deep grey one from Urban is amazing!

Put this on a blank wall you have in your magic room or living room and you will probably use it just as much as your bed...NO sickos! ..not like that...for cuddling and reading...geez!

Hi there, super yummy upholstered nailhead bed! (that we left the tag on).

Imagine being enveloped in this super cozy and utterly chic bed! We lurve the white crispy sheets against the charcoal velvet!

Not ready to go the distance with it? Afraid of commitment?

Here is one of our most favorite posters/Art ever! We heart and want this suuuuuuper bad...hint hint ;)

Village is an amazingly secret spot we hit up for great prints that no one (not even our shmanciest of friends will have) really knows about...you're welcome and shhhhh!

P.S. Sorry for the repeat offense today (it's a good one at least!) Miss TWH had a looong day yesterday and couldn't quite get her polished paws to finish the one she started...next time!

Don't be cloudy...go grey!

Decor to Die For: Love your walls...wrap them up! We heart wallpaper! (the new breed)

This post ain't about your mama's wallpaper...and if it is...WOW we are jealous with a capital J!

Remember in the 60's '70s and '80s when wallpaper was all the rage? When every wall and ceiling were covered in the crazy floral goodness of rose and emerald colored or psychedelic colored paper?

Yeah us too...we don't remember most of it but we have faint visions of Strawberry Shortcake paper peeling away near our beds and finding even worse pink and blue floral paper under it...
it was like an 80's garden ate too much blueberry pie and threw up on the walls.

Sorry! But at least you got the visual right?...Right?

So then came the '90s...the decade where we were over crazy garden themes and weird plaids (that could actually be cool now!) strewn on the walls...the years where flat painted walls got all the attention..even though the spice colored walls were almost as bad as the wallpaper.

Then came Kelly and her ode to Hollywood Regency..aka Modern Glamour.

Her love of flocked damask and '60s modern-y yet totally of the now geometric designed wallpaper changed our decor loving souls forever. Her papers reopened our eyes to how fantasmic walls o' paper can be.

From then on...well it was only a few years ago, but still seems like eons ago...wallpapers have gotten the uber cutey bean treatment. There is a paper for everyone!

Check out this rad company...Given Campbell

Its super exciting...you will never be out of ideas again...maybe a bit more confused then ever before, but never uninspired ;).

Let's take a trip on the wallpaper wagon of love shall we?

First stop...the reason our bathroom is papered in black and white...Miss Wearsler's papers for
Schumacher through her design house KWID.

Though her new style may be a far cry from Modern Glamour...it is still pretty interesting.
They may not inspire an entire interior decor revolution like her past designs, they are every bit different and new in an '80s kinda way.

How amazing is that brass lamp and camo ikat pillow! Not to mention how gorge she is.

Oh jeesh...hi ridiculously cute flamingo paper from Cole and Son!!!

This paper is soooooo good in a Fort Lauderdale-ish way. I saw this in an Urban Outfitters last year and took pics with my phone to inspire me to do a wall of this in my powder room (too bad the boy of the casa was over my "newest" must do)

But how fun is it...imagine this in a dining room with super grown up and heavy furniture...and a brass Sputnik chandelier....yummm.

Miss Westwood...Queen of "punk couture" the lady of plaids and corsets, brings us some of the coolest new paper around for her collection with Cole and Son.
It's soooo unlike what you would think when you thought of her but at the same time it's totally what you would expect. Perfectly unexpected and works.
This blue squiggle paper from the Dame is great! It would look fantasmic paired with mid century modern furniture from Room and Board...throw in a great Saarinen marble tulip table...done and done...

Lovin how this next graphic WP looks in this fun bedroom! The grey graphic print somehow totally works with all of the other elements in the room although none of them are in the same design category...perfection!
OMG...turquoise ugly doll on a yellow chair? Yes please! We are totally stealing that idea...shhhh!

One day Miss Me and I walked into a babies nursery and almost got sick (in the best way possible)
The walls were wrapped in the most stunningly gorgeous and delicate sea anemone silver paper. It was by far the most beautiful room we have seen!

We have searched high and low for that paper but came up empty handed...then we found a cousin of it...just as beautiful and delicate.

Graham Brown are the people to thank up and down for this delicate pale blue starburst-esque paper. OH GOD! Look at that brass Chippendale chair too!!!!

Remember that amazing post about yellow (well it was pretty inspiring right?...thanks!)?
We were soooo hearting the yellow desk against the striped walls and MW rug...we had to figure out how to steal each piece....
We found the paper!!!! It's from Farrow Ball. They have tons and tons of stripes...all different sizes and colors...wooo hooo!
Stripes are a great way to have an impact with out going totally crazy...and they kinda work with everything.

Who would'a thought that black and charcoal grey birdie WP would ever work...it totally does!!!

It's incredibly and surprisingly delicate, modern and shmancy all in one. If you are afraid to go too "dark" mix it up with bright furniture and accessories like they did here at Ferm Living.
Uber chic and playful. Watch out Mr Adler...here comes our decorators!

OH DOMINO!!!!! Come back!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for inspiring us with this room.
This unbelievably striped black and white hallway/room is GORGE.
If you described this to a friend they would think you were on acid...but it somehow absolutely works! Even in the midst of all the stripes the details still manage to pop.

Tres Chic! Coco would totally heart this. Go bold or go home!

Speaking of black and white but in a fully different direction.....

Cuteness!!!!!! OMG we are uber hearting this "whale" of a time wallpaper!
The black and white keeps in crispy and modern while the cartoon whales keeps it fun.
We love it in this bathroom!

Think you have to drape papier peint (that's wallpaper in French...sooo fancy...sorry we are still a bit obsessed with Coco Chanel) over your walls for an impact? Nope!
Throw it up in a tiny (or huge...lucky!) closet to brighten and liven the space up. Your clothes will have so much fun and every time you open the doors you will too.
Or you can even leave the doors open cuz it's like a piece of art.

OK, remember that uuuuber cutie bean whale of a time wallpaper from above? Here is a more grown up version from...OMFG! We lost the link!!!!!!!! (poop...we will find it...email us if you want it and I will find. SORRY!)

It's an MC Escher-esque ode to fun wallpaper. Look closely...each animal changes and morphs into something else...we lurve the Giraffe-hopper and the Shark-horse.
Any boy would love this in his room (or just a headboard wall of it)...but if you are ready and willing...your dining room is screaming for this!

Throw in some mismatched chairs with your table and some Jonathan Adler pottery (swoon!!!) and you are officially the raddest gal/guy in the land of Rad.

And now the finale....a paper both you and your significant other will love. Yay and thank goodness!!!

This perfectly feminine meets masculine feather paper from Walnut, is de-lish!
Played safe here in this pic with club chairs, you could punch it up with say a navy velvet upholstered chair or a fun yellow console or anything! Just try to step out of the box...it will work ;)

The best thing about wallpaper? It can totally change your room (with a tweety bit of elbow grease) in the flash of an eye.
It can make a boring room exciting for much less than replacing all of the furniture...and much more interesting then just mixing a texture or 2.

P.S. You know when you see people "hanging" wallpaper in movies and it's all over the place?...Sticking everywhere and dripping on everything?
Well, the new school versions are waaay easier to do..the only thing you have to do is make it straight!

Here is a super good tutorial from one of our fav WP companies....Ferm Living...

There are literally thousands upon thousands of papers in the world...one (or 5) for every different person.
Our go to favs are Walnut Paper and Graham Brown....

But there are soooo many!! Find your faves!

In the words of Mae West...
"Too much of a good thing....can be wonderful"

Have fun!
