Decor to Die For: Slab it to me...We heart Marble topped yumminess!

Ooooohhhhh sooo chic, so vintage yet totally modern, crazy classic with out being boring, cold in the warmest way and clean but not in a hospital kinda way. We are talkin' 'bout marble people.

Yes, that white rock from the metamorphosis of limestone...the gorgeous one with pale grey (and sometimes pinky tan) veins running through it.

There are about 5 different kinds of white marble but we will spare you the Nat Geo detail and get to the good stuff.

We could never even begin to talk about our super heartfulness in Heartville without first showing a picture of the most magnificent piece (well pieces really ) of marble ever created by man.

The Taj Mahal in Agra, India. It is said that it was built in honor of an Emperor's wife after she died giving birth to their 14th child....
Um, yeah boys?...We better get something along those lines if you want 14 children pushed out of our honey pots.

But we digress...we Heart white marble!

Our most favoritest ways to get our fill of marble is as in the kitchen...we lied...all of the following ways are our faves. But we do get a wee bit faint of heart when we see a beautifully done kitchen in marble...

Don't or can't do marble in your den o' food and yumminess? Try this gorgeous marble top french industrial-esque island from Crate and Barrel.

Big enough to use as a food station or bar and storage and small enough to be affordable and totally mobile around your abode.
We loooove open storage PS.

No room in your kitchen? Try their dining table version. Sooooooo good!!!!!!

We love the contrast between the black and white...
Oh how amazing would pink peonies in silver or black vases look on top of this table!
YES SI VOUS PLAIT!!!!

Oh hee hee kinda like this TDF dining table!!!!

OMFG!!!!!!! And those pendant lights? No words except...done and done....

Oh...ya know where else we heart white slabs o' love? In the place it goes best and easiest...the place of peace and solitude....the bathroom

Huh....somebody...and for sure not me...has a bathroom reminiscent of this Tiffany blue bathroom...Her's may be a more classic metropolitan version but we get a bit sick (in a good way) every time we see it

Yummy yummy yummmy!
If we were allowed to do a guest bathroom over we would absolutely looove to have it look kinda like this! So chic and parisian-esque...who would'a thunk it is from Pottery Barn?
Chrome or polished nickel were born to marry white marble. And that cute hexagon floor! Wooooo...we are breakin' a sweat!

Um...hmmmmm....we are both on a never ending quest to finish decorating our houses...no seriously NEVER ENDING! Have you ever tried to mix your style with your lover? Yeah then you get it...

But the one thing both of our loves have 100% agreed with both of us on these crazy sexy tulip side tables from the vintage modern designer, Eero Saarinen.
It's perfect. Light with out being girlie...substantial with out getting in the way...clean with out being untouchable and can go with almost any style. Wooo hooo... We'll take 2 please!

Oh good God! Hello stunningly silly Saarinen Tulip Dining Table!!!
Yup this marble topped mommy to the side table we heart is sooooooo perfect for any dining area. They paired this one with the matching Tulip chairs for Knoll, but we would love to spice it up with chairs that don't quite match as well. But geesh this table is great!

You can get really really good copies of these tables at places like Ikea and Room Service to get you started...You're Welcome!

Uggghhhhhhhh to the 100% power.... LOVE this foyer that welcomes you with a gorge tulip table and bent wood chairs!
The warmth and modernness of the chairs makes the elegant Saarinen table a bit more comfortable...well done! We are JEALOUS!

So we have established that marble hearts kitchens, bathrooms, dining areas....what about coffee tables? Yup it totally does!
Lover? JN? Do you like this one or too round and modern?
This CB2 coffee table would totally die to be with a navy velvet couch and would easily elevate any space with chicness.
You friends would walk in and say, "J'adorable place!"

Sometimes marble can do not so nice things....Sorry Goddess of our lives Kelly Wearstler but it's true.
We super get what you are doing here but yikes! We will stop there since we lurve her...

Marble is a crazy easy way to sleek-ify, Paris-ify and classic-ify any space...try Craigslist and vintage furniture stores for good deals if you wanna try a wee bit o' marble yourself...

Decor to Die For: We see you...we see right through...wanna do it again...We heart lucite furniture!

Sometimes things are just too jinxy to pass up and post about...

What is it about lucite furniture that gets us all a tingle?!?!

designshrine.netdesignshrine.netd

Is it because it reminds us of the '80s when we were babies and our friends parents had it???

OR

Is it because it is clearly (pun amazingly intended) chic and sleek and will open up and lighten any space with a lil humor and it's totally unexpected!

Within 1 day my gorge friend JN and Miss Me said how in heartville they are with this uber sexy lucite console table from CB2 for their beautiful houses...

And since then (and our obsession with having Ghost chairs at our wood dining table...Mr. TWH is not a fan) we knew we were on to something...

It really started when I walked into an open house next door to me (super heart open houses) and saw these amazing Z chairs mixed with a traditional table in a Spanish home...Ding Ding...In LOVE!!!

They some how go perfectly in this dining room! Yet not really...amazing!

Love them too? We found the guy who hearts lucite as much as us...
Here is AT's Z chair...

Speaking of "the lucite king" here is Aaron Thomas' answer to a swanky modern lucite coffee table...

Great brown color...so metropolitan! (super good...minus the pony fur...come on dude..challenge yourself)

We also crazy heart bar carts...so vintage and glam..... and crazy cute in lucite!
PS This bar cart from Plexi Craft in your bathroom to hold all your stuff? A-mazing!!!

From the "queen" of acrylic (lucite-ish) furniture...Jan Showers has a really great looking tufted bench...
Love the legs!!! Get it...change the color of fabric and voila! Elle Decor will be knocking in no time!
Here is a great one we found on Ebay...change the fabric and it will be just as gorge as a designer one!

Ahhh the Ghost Chair from PS for Kartell...Hello sexy....
You are great...you are easy and unexpected...LOVE! Put at a heavy dining table for a really rad perfectly imperfect look!

Oh crap...ooh goodness...GEEZ!!!! Please please please!! We want these S&M tufted lucite chairs NOW!
Dear Mr. TWH...remember when you asked us what we want for Vday? THESE!!!!!
(just don't look at the price ;) )

And we saved the best for last...all done by Alexandra Von Furstenburg...yes that VF...she is the daughter in law of the fantastical DVF...
Hmmm her sister in law is our neighbor...hmmm discount????

Here is her unbelievable diamond coffee table!!!!

Give us a break! Really??? WOW!

Uh...ummmmmm remember that super cute clear console from CB2? Yeah...not that it's not amazing but take a breath and look at AVF's answer to it.....

BREATHE!!!!

NEON PINK accented LUCITE!!!!! F-U AVF (in a super good way!)

And think of all the fancy pants work you could do at this rediculously glamorous desk.

(hi turq neon sign...you would look STUPENDOUS next to our pink one...yes please!!!!...ASAP)

Want to see how our j'adorable boyfriend, JA does lucite....

Of course it's amazing...everything he touches turns to good!

Don't think you can commit? Try these smaller nesting tables from CB2... They are clear so we bet you won't even know they are there..
Wait.... Is that a good thing???

A great vase full of bright pink flowers would looove to be on these next to a bright yellow book... TDF!!!!!!

Still not ready...go out and grab yourself some hot ass lucite heels...

Not these slutty mcslutties...

These!

Yummy Animal Lovin' Stella M!

Be clear about your design decisions...go lucite!!!!!

Decor to Die For: We heart mis-matched dining tables and chairs!

Oh mis-matched dining tables and chairs...how we lurve thee. We heart thee soooo much one of us already has you in her fab kitchen...and the other...well let's just say the other has been taking a wee bit too long to fulfill her dream of a perfectly mis-matched dining room.
The best part about interior design becoming such a huge thing recently (well besides the amazingness of the greatest I.D.(Interior Design) mag, Domino which is now gone...we still hold our breaths when we open the mailbox each month, and the best design show, Top Design...hey where did that go too?!?!?!) is how everyone can be their own decorator!
Design has never been sooo at our fingertips and sooo accessible...no matter what your taste or style, you too can be your own Ruthie, Kelly or dare we say it...Jonathan.

A huge thing we learned from the explosion of ID is that the days of bedroom sets, dining sets, living room sets is O-V-E-R. Bring on the mis-matched sets...the "Oh, hello...hahaha yes we have done a lot of traveling and we just picked that up somewhere on the Southern Hemisphere"...and "Thank you! Oh gosh no...I just have an eye for design".

Oh and another thing...the best part about mis-matched dining tables and chairs??? Its uber recessionista chic!
Yeeeooowwwza! We have been waiting to post this bad boy post for a while and man it shows ;). This is a pic heavy post so have fun and hopefully get inspired!

Up first is a table and chairs that has made its way into our hearts and blog many a time...the Darjeeling Table and white from chairs from CB2.
The simplicity of the natural wood planked table with modern white molded chairs is some how totally perfect and in sync. Is it the modern industrialness of the table that blends with the modernness of the chairs or is it simply perfectly imperfect? (If you know...feel free to tell share)
How sublimely surreal is this table and chair set?
Yes, it is most likely not someones real dining room or kitchen table (since it's on the middle of the beach) but who ever this gorgeous mad (wo)man is...they deserve a big ol' kiss.
The white table and pops of bright colors on the settings is the perfect marriage with the crazy and dare we say, zaney colored chairs. Its soooo super festive and imaginative, there is nooo way you wouldn't have a good time.

For some reason this next one makes me absolutely giggle with glee...

It may not be the most perfectly mismatched heaven but the fact that a totally tradtional table is anchored with pitch black, white piped wing back chairs gets my smile going! The Queen Ann and other French and English inspired colorful chairs surrounding them doesn't hurt either ;)

Ring...ring....hello Alice? Yeah..um your late for your tea party, madame.

This has got to be inspired by the Madhatters Tea Party... How fantastical is this table and chair set? Crazy?... Yes. Over the top?... Uh huh. Hard to pull off?... You betcha. But fun as sin to look at and imagine the house that holds it! Wow!
(Note...the only thing we don't quite get is the horrible gingham napkins that are thrown into the mix)

Yum...yummm...yum.
Bold with out shouting and stylish with out trying too hard. This dining area and MM (Mis-Matched) table and chairs is TDF for sure!

The super sleek color and lines of the table, mixed with the almost dhurrie style navy and white rug, (the furry pup), and the bold pop of the red chair at the end is fantastic and chic. The crazy thing is, it shows you how bold and new modern can be cozy and inviting. No formal dinners at this table.

Hello easy Victorian glam dining room. How are you? Good?
domino mag...tear tear
Yes you are!
You are great for many reasons. The fact that you mixed gorge, muted rich velvets covering at least 3 different eras of seating and painted the traditional colored wood of the chairs white is a bueno. Wait! There are more reasons this room is great... instead of playing up the amazing romantic fun of this room with a deep rug...they threw a curve ball and placed the pieces on a huge natural sisal rug!

Oh and a settee and Chippendale bench instead of chairs anchored with a roll back arm chair?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Done and uber done!

Think mismatched chairs and tables are only for the interior of your pad o' love? Think again...

Cute, whimsical, perfection and elegant are the perf words to describe this romantic, yet easy going...meets outdoor chic, outdoor dining room.

If you look closely, the only think that matches to bring this super cute outdoor table and chairs together is the light silver and white colors mixed with the delicate patterns in the chair, feminine lines of the metal table and loads of gorge glass accessories and fixtures.

Jealous (in a good way) does not even begin to do my feelings of this next dining room justice...

domino mag...waaawwa
Really? Come on! Really? Mixing vintage, modern, industrial, danish, natural reclaimed, organic modern pieces? Really??? YES!
For some reason it is perfection to our eyes! How in the world is that sooo great with sooo many different and opposite elements? I don't know but what ever it is, I am sooo IN and in hearty heartville.

And last but not least a dining area that is so simple and pretty there is no way not to fall into lurve.
This room is perf for people to get inspired who are a wee bit afraid to jump in head first to the total mix and match chair / table idea. They perfectly paired white straight back upholstered chairs with a beautiful traditional and heavy table and anchored the ends with gorge all white bamboo arm chairs. Easy peasy and totally beautiful.

Try something new...if you aren't ready to go all the way try to just change out the end chairs...or get a new table that perfectly imperfectly goes with your existing chairs...or what every you decide to do...be bold and have fun!

See you later decorators!!!

Decor (to die for): We heart CB2! ( we know! soo good...right?!?)

Turns out an amazingly, great place to get yummy decor on the cheap (well, cheaper) is CB2.

CB2 is the ultimate place to go for amazingly beautiful and fun modern decor... Its Crate and Barrel's younger and much cooler sibling.  It's like a chic and stylish version of Ikea but for people who like quality ;) and well, lasting style.

So a few months ago construction started on the corner of Sunset Blvd and Crescent Heights in LALA land and then the sign went up....we nearly crashed our car!  OMG!  CB2!!!

That catalogue we have been drooling and ordering from for years is coming to us?

YES PLEASE!...hurry hurry hurry...open, open, open (cue old school Mervyn's commercial)!!!

And it did (open)...it is an oasis in the middle of the crazy expensive furniture desert of LA.  It can really go toe to toe with the big guns of fun and modern furnishings.

So we closed our eyes, took a deep breath, held on to our cute straw fedora (just say NO to skin cancer ladies) and went in...   It is fantastic!

Here are a few (too many to choose from) of our fav finds from decor to furniture...

A few weeks back we did a fantasmic reclaimed table post and one of our favs just happened to be from this haven of amazing decor.  We needed to see it in person... yup!  Even better than the picture in the well styled catalogue.  It took everything in our body not to buy it and surprise the boy... UUGGH...next time.

We danced through the dining collections and wait...what??  Hello beauties!

The Vapor Bar stool...

Sooo hearting Lucite furniture.  Its so modern and lofty yet can be mixed in to any decor for a little added chicness.  Imagine these at a kitchen island.  So great!

Those amazing clear chairs got us thinking.. hmm we need to spruce up our yards a bit.. it seems like most of the great outdoor furniture is usually teak wood or black metal...BORING!   Then we saw these...T.D.F. (To Die For)!!!
How stupidly cute are these chairs?!  Great shape, idea and fantastic colors.  These with a teak or dark wood out door dining table..done and done. Mix 'um up for some real fun.   Use a few more for extra seating in the yard or deck.  They come in yellow, turquoise (and we all know how much we heart that color) and white.

Why is this pendant lamp the cutest thing ever!  Use a few at different lengths for added beauty and decor panache (great word!).  It will brighten up any room...even the kitchen!

(revere pendant)

And speaking of kitchens, how great are these glasses?
So fancy-free yet so snazzy.  Serve wine in them and your guest will think you are the cats meow of hosting.  And with 6 different languages all saying cheers... so cute!

Now after playing on your laptop all day..wouldn't you loooovvveee to snuggle up in this dreamy yet classically clean bed?

This warm grey bed will go in any room...any color (preferably a bright one), and it snuggles you up in its square cocoon like shape....Ahhhh yum!

Imagine this with crispy cold sheets after a day at the beach or playing outside.

OK, that bed just made us feel so snuggley and relaxed...NAP TIME!  Yay!

Go to CB2.com and have a blast!

Remember, even a small item can change your room...and the big ones, well they make it.
