Spooky, yet lovely.....

Never has their been any doubt that the TWH gals love a good apothecary jar.
Our houses are littered in them, in our living-rooms, in our kitchens in the bathroom.

Anywhere something pretty is needed, why not make that something pretty an apothecary jar.
Year round we fill them with whatever strikes our fancy. But, if you are a regular reader then you also know that come holiday time... We let out our inner beasts A.K.A the little Martha Stewarts that live inside of us.

To put it another way, we are not afraid of a little holiday cheer and some thematic decorating!

So yes, right now Miss Me's apothecary jars are full off candy corn and autumn leaves, not mixed together of course, you wouldn't want to ruin all that yummy candy corn!

These pretty class canisters are the perfect way to show your holiday spirit with out going overboard on the blow-up frankensteins and the messy cotton spiders webs... (P.S. We love those too!) Here are a few of our top picks for grown-up Halloween chic.

We fell in love with these pretty labels from "A Fanciful Twist" go all the way and make your living room look like it could be a classroom at Hogwarts! These jars would also make the perfect gift for your friends, filled with yummy treats from your kitchen.

Looking for something a little more glowy?

These pretty yet erie hurricanes from Elizabeth Embelishments would work year round in your pretty house.
As would these super rad little skull toped apothecary jars complete with vintage inspired labels.

These would be perfect for your fellas music studio do-dads
(I know the husband is impressed with how technical I am)
or even for his toiletries year round... For Halloween keep them by your stove with tea bags and sugar... He can have them when the holiday is over.

But these, these are for you and you alone! No boys allowed unless of course you are a boy who squeals when anything Jonathan Adler is put in front of you.. Then these are for you too.

Love, covet, adore... Don't even care that you can't see what is inside... In this case, it is whats on the outside that counts! And we want these all year, we are just looking for an excuse to buy more... "Woops! It was a holiday sweetie, we needed that!"

We say it all the time, have fun with your decor! Don't take decorating so seriously! And try and buy things that you are always going to love and always going to use. These apothecary jars are perfect.. They let you have fun filling them with silly over-the-top-whatever-you-can-dream-ups.... And then they look just as pretty empty and shining in the sunlight from your window.

It's the simple things that make us happy, it really is.

We heart 'em more than you can imagine...
If we are not careful...we will both end up old bubbies with shelves filled with fun salt and pepper shaker collections.

But who can blame us when there are soo many rad ones out there?

Like these sail boat ones that inspired this post!

Live near the beach or wish you did? Throw this uber cute set on your table and set food afloat!

Last Xmas, Miss TWH was the super lucky recipient of these TDF cats from a certain fellow sister wife of Jonathan Adler.

Soooo sleek...so chic yet totally playful and fun to throw on any table for a dinner party!

So naturally after getting those cutie beans...we HAVE to have these sexy Mr and Mrs Muse shakers from our BF, JA. LOVE!!!

But Dear Johnathan...will you make them in gold and silver metallic? Thanks!!!

We came across these Devil & Angel shakers when perusing today and loved them soooo much we ordered them for our brother who appreciates fun kitchen stuffs too.

How cute are they????

And shpeaking of cute...dying for these "Peaceful" shakers.

Loving the dove and the cloud.
These would love to be displayed with the rest of your collection...maybe on a vintage cake stand or on the back of your oven.

For your friend or family member that is too chic for words...the ones that have the gorgeous marble modern kitchen or just looove modern style...

These rosewood beauties are perfect for them. Soooo sleek and lovely!

Decor to Die for: Blooms for your rooms!

(Domino)
So, we all have the friend who has that special knack for always having fresh flowers in their homes. Wether it is abundant arrangements all over the house, or pretty single stems scattered throughout.

(Domino)
Seeing fresh flowers just makes you smile, plus it makes every room look that much better!

Look at what these beautiful pink Peonys do for this simple but chic bathroom.

(House Beautiful)
And we don't wanna hear any excuses about fresh flowers costing to much money, because if you go to your local Farmer's market you can find really great deals.

(What's up duck?)
And even though you know how much we heart a beautiful misfit vase, flowers can be held in anything and still look fabulous,

(Domino)
case in point these Sweet Peas in old chinese tea tins.... You could absolutely do this in your home! You know you can, we will even help you find the tins, head over to the Pearl River Market and get yourself some!
(They would also make really cute q-tip holdrs for your bathroom!)

We are fans of both the single bloom arrangements ,that means all the same type of flower together. Like these RIDICULOUS Ranunculus with the amazing green centers and bright pink edges.... In a tea cup!! Thank you Domino mag for the amazing arrangement.

(Domino)
But we also love to mix up different types of flowers and vases to make a bright and sunny display.

How cheerful is this little arrangement? I love the mixture of tea pot, pretty glasses and garden roses.

Another one of our favorite ways to liven up a room is with a vase full of blooming branches.

(Real Simple)
These Cherry Blossom branches look so graphic and modern in a simple glass cylinder.
If you can't find Cherry Blossoms you could use Flowering Quince or any other flowering tree branch you can get your hands on.
They call this process "Forcing a bloom" and it is something you should try near the end of winter when you just gotta get out of the grey days.
Check out this blog post from Habitually Chic for instructions on forcing and some pretty pictures.

(Habitually Chic)
Dress up up your table top with a monochrome color scheme,
(Unknown source)
These white roses in modern and clean glass cylinders on this holy F*%K beautiful marble table has a clean and super fresh look.

We love a beautifully cluttered table, and these red roses scattered on a red table cloth are giving a cool gypsy vibe we heart.

(Domino)
Fresh flowers will bring a luxurious and fresh happy feeling to your home, and you deserve that! So hit your local Farmers Market or Trader Joe's.
(A great place for affordable fresh flowers)
Make your house beautiful everyday.

Decor to die for: Photography!!!

So, it all started with this photographer Slim Aarons, he took amazing pictures of (in his own words) "attractive people, doing attractive things, in attractive places."
We just adore his watery photos so very much that we were all set to go get a huge print of one to hang in our livingroom!..... But then we saw how much they cost!

Now look, we are all for supporting the arts and we have been known to pay what may be considered way too much, on art we can not live without.
But, for some reason this just struck us as really crazy, because, the world is full of super amazing and talented photographers. So we present to you..... Amazing and affordable photography! Beacuse you don't have to spend a million dollars to have a house that looks like this.

(Lily Vanderwoodsens' apartment)

O.K, well maybe you do.
But you can make your place look really cool with large scale photography.
Check out some of the cool artists we found on Etsy.

This beautiful little dandelion puff is just perfect for wishing on. It sort of has the same color feeling as some of the Slim Aarons' photos. We think it would look quite lovely hanging over your bed, sending you off to have sweet, soft little dreams.
This photo is by Every-day-moments on Etsy. Please click here to shop.

This one by Matthew Hyatt is also very cool, kind of modern and fun. Girlie but exciting at the same time. It would look amazing in a little girls room or in a sleek and chic single gals apartment, hanging in the dining room. It kind of makes us want to celebrate! You can get yours here.

So, while searching high and low, we came across an artist named J. Garcia. He is really super talented, you can find his work on his Flickr page here.
He has a blog and a website.... I suggest you go check out his photography and try and contact him through his blog of you are interested in purchase. We have gotten in contact with him about getting a giant copy of the red, yellow and green city scene above. We are going to hang it at the tip-top of or stair case, so everyone can see it when they come in the front door. My husband and I really like the gritty city feeling mixed with the super saturated rasta colors. It is going to look amazing, we are so excited!!

Friends, these are just a small, micro-slice of the amazing and affordable art the you can find out there on the web. We urge you to go and find photographs, art, fashion, whatever you can that makes you happy, and support the artist community that needs our encouragement and support. Don't let your budget limit your dreams, grab your camera and head out the door to make your own artistic statement. We promise you will have a lot of fun doing it and you may surprise yourself along the way.
But, that doesn't mean we are not going to dream about you Slim. We will always hold you in a special place in our hearts... See you in our dreams Mr. Aarons.

XOXO- T.W.H

Decor to die for: Throw down....

Throws or handy little snuggly blankets that keep you cozy and look pretty are being put to good use in our houses this week... What about yours?

Here are are favorite small blankets to cuddle under while that rain beats down outside!

Starting, in no particular order, with our fake boyfriend Jonathan "J'adorable" Adler and his Nixon throw. Clean, graphic and cozy.. Just the way we like it in our nests.

Some thing about this beautiful Fireside throw by Matteo was calling our names... Something about it was so warm and familiar, it reminds us of something we can't quite put our finger on...

Wait.... GOT IT!

It's a total Spicoli style "drug rug" poncho made into a very luxe and classy affair! We love it! No wonder it was screaming our names.. It must have remembered us from High School.

Don't know how many times we gotta tell you, we heart, heart, heart P.B.T! Yes, it's true, we also heart P.Y.T, (Rest In Peace M.J)

But we are talking about your nest, so when we say P.B.T it can only mean one thing... Pottery Barn Teen- Our go to spot for affordable preppy cuteness.
Like these PomPom throws. I'll take mine in white, thanks.

Do we even have to say it? Faux fur thows??? Scrumptious! In white or deep brown? So very sexy.
The grown up Pottery Barn has these beauties... But hurry they are almost gone.

Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, even though we love you and bow down to your interior know-how... We are super jealous of your flawless skin, your casual elegance and to top it all off your genuine sweetness. Now you go and do this?
Grrr... WHY!?

Psss.... Miss Me's birthday is ONLY 5 months away... Anyone want to get me one of these amazing K.W for Serffa throws? Anyone? Honey? Anyone?

O.K, Moving on.

There... Are.... No.... Words....

Looks like a super innocent, sweet little lavender throw right? No way guys...
It's the Mother F*ing CRACKEN!

Ohhhh, Ohhhh Thomas Paul, You KILL... You just KILL!

We heart the tattoo style art on this Basotho Throw. Not to mention the always winning color combo of peach, turquoise and black.

Uh-Oh... Miss t.w.h, Don't look now, but I think I found your birthday present!
Kitten lovers of the world unite under this fleece throw with a precious little kitten face on it.
Awwww, Snuggles! It started off as a joke but the longer I look, the more I love this little guy... Maybe I better order two...

Stay home... Snuggle up with your sweetie and a good movie...
(If you have not seen "Away We Go" yet, you need to NOW... Really, NOW!)
