Color Crave: Pretty in pastel pink...

(Photo: Feministing)
While we are aware that we have bloged about our love for pink before... We are so hearting baby pastel pink right now we had to give it another go.
If you read about color therapy, they say that pastel pink represents compassion and an open heart. Perhaps that is why we are craving this color right now...

For just a hint of this lovely color, Lou Rota makes these amazingly Rocking Granny china plates. You can get yourself some at Not On The High Street.

(Photo: Elle Decor)
Ready to commit, well first answer us this, Are you as bad ass girly girl as the one and only Betsey Johnson? If you have answered "YES!!" to that question... Can we meet you and be your friends? A yes answer also allows you to live in a all pink super chic world like Miss Johnson herself!

The photo above and this one bellow of Betsey Johnson's apartment are both proof that all pink decor when done right, is super swoon worthy and jealousy inducing!

(Photo: Elle Decor)

Can you believe that you never thought of this before? And we always thought we had such a way with flower arranging...
Amazing loosey goosey Peony flowers in a mason jar... with coffee beans!!!!
(Yep we feel it deserved four exclamation points, its that good.)

Now if only one of our closest friends would hurry up and either get married or have a baby girl we could use this flower arrangement at their shower...

Look at your wall.... Is it looking a little bare? Do you need a little Umph? (Yes it is a real word, we think), then how about this simply adorable pink print from artist Faroush? You can grab yours over on Etsy.

(Photo: Faroush)
Now while we have seen this saying on a print before... We are super big fans of this version... Love the little white scalloped border and the black needle, it is so Cinderella and her mice.

Looking for more of a pop? Another Etsy find... JohnWGolden has these pop art, tough girl converse on a pink background. We would hang this one right in the bathroom... We know that may not sound like the biggest compliment, but to us it is... Right over the toilet is a place of honor... It sets the tone for your house's style. Plus everyone will see it!

(Photo: JohnWGolden)

Leave it to Kelly W. to be way ahead of the crowd. When we first saw her guest house in Domino we were a little confused, she had changed up her style on us.. But of course she found a great new one...

(Photo: Domino Magazine :()
Oh, how we covet this tableaux! Oh, how we wish this was our room! The painting, the brass lamp, the amethyst encrusted box.. Perfection!

Look close our loves, and you will see that this beautiful bride is wearing a blush toned wedding gown... Do word exist to say how much we heart that? No.

Another super beautiful lineup of pink comes in this pretty photo from one of our most fave sites, Decor 8.

So pretty.
And this delicious and pretty pink cake would make any birthday girl smile.
These stairs are what inspired this post.. Although I am sad to say that I have had this picture on my computer for so long floating around in my "Inspiration" folder, that I don't remember where I found it. :(

But, I do know that the combination of pink and white stairs plus the super cute Mama and Baby in the background make me really happy.

This baby pink wall with antique mirrors also makes me really happy! Check out that light pink velvet tufted sofa... N.K.Y I wish I knew who made it, I would try and get you a red one!

Another really pretty flower arrangement we found on the beautiful site All Things Lovely. We heart the mercury glass vase and the pretty pink Ranunculus.

Even in little pops pink can always make yo smile, can always make you feel calm and happy.

Open your heart and let a little pink in to your world.

Decor to Die For: Book...Book...who's gotta book. WE HEART DECOR BOOKS!

Although we are going to keep today's post short (hic up....advil...sunglasses...enough said) it will of course be all you need to get inspired to rehab your pad.

There is really no reason you shouldn't have the room, apartment or home of your dreams...(aaahhheemmm...we are speaking to you JN ;) )

You don't need tons of moolah to update and make your nest ridiculous. It just takes a wee bit of time, patience and smart shopping!

Oh.. the other thing you need to make your place of lovin' unbelievable and soooo chic is 1 or all of these F'n amazing design books we are bringing to you today. You're sooo welcome! It's our pleasure...No need for kisses...just buy us cashmere.

These books are soooooooo inspirational you will probably cry (the good kind). They are from the top 3 designers of all time and 1 from one of the chicest interior design editors around.

You won't believe how great your space will be with a lil help from the best.
Your friends gasp and say, "Wow...geez...someones doing well! You have such good taste! I am super jealous"

Then you say, "Yeah, I didn't know I was great at interior design...but one day I thought, huh I would like to redo my place and voila!"

But no one needs to know you are not design inclined (don't worry most are not...well, Miss Me is but she's a freak of nature)...they don't need to know you had crazy good help with the inspirational books we are about to show you.

From one of the best most understated glam designers...owner of the RIDICULOUS store Chapman Radcliff (which PS is now going away!!!!!) Ruthie Sommers.
There has been a wait list of sorts to get her book, The LA House, and no one knows why but we are suuuper sure it is well worth the wait.

Ruthie's designs are spectacular and oh soooo crave worthy!
Remember this black and turquoise kitchen? Sooooo easy to recreate for yourself!!!!

And how the hell can we get this couch you ask? Oh by grabbing an old couch at a flea market, buying some rad fabric and reupholster like you have never reupholstered before!
Or have someone do it for you ;)

Last night we were lucky enough to go to the new book launch for the goddess of glam....the hotness that is Kelly Wearster.

She has 3 amazingly inspirational (yeah...we know we need another word but that one is perfect so deal with it) decor books to help you on your way.

The queen of Modern Glamour ....
and Dame of less is NOT more.... her new book Hue will make you paint all of your walls and furniture faster than you can eat a plateful of Krispy Kreme doughnuts when you have PMS.

Oh and PS...yes she does look EXACTLY like this in person.

We were dying and wanted to kill her (in a good way!) She is ridiculously gorgeously amazingly beautiful all around.
Not sure if she is a real person or an android sent to Earth to make us feel ugly and untalented.

One of KW besties is another one of our besties...OK not besties, besties...but one of the most amazing designers ever to waltz into our hearts and homes...Jonathan Adler.

He is sooooooo good...every page in this book will make you cry tears of happiness.

His use of fun bright colors, mixed with modern chic pieces and fantastical pottery will cause your abode to explode with whimsy.

You need this book! It will change the way you decorate your space!

And who is KW and JA's bestie? Margaret Russel from Elle Decor!!!!

Elle Decor's book Style and Substance is filled to the brim with gorgeously glam and boho chic rooms to inspire even those who thinks decorating their home is silly.

Now for 2 books that are chalk full of gorgeous, amazing, inspirational, functional, drop dead fabulous, crazy chic, unbelievably luscious rooms and ideas...they will make your heart flutter and head spin!

If you miss Domino mag as much as we do, then grab their book. It is actually a tutorial about how to mix and match ideas and pieces for the perfectly imperfect home. Your place will look like you traveled the globe ;)

Ever had to grab ideas on line for your nest and kept getting routed to Apartment Therapy's sites? We hope so. They are AMAZING!

The best part about their site...all of the places they show you for inspiration are real peoples homes!

Now they have a book out to help you with any thing you need for designing your place!
Everything they show you is with in reach and totally doable and easy peasy to do!

PS You don't have to copy the styles in the book...just get ideas and have fun!
PPS When you are done, invite us over ;)

See you later decorators!!!!

Decor to DYE for!: Ikat, Tie-Dye and Hippie Chic.

I know what your thinking, first messy braids now tie-dye? Don't worry Things-We-Heart is not going all patculli on you, we just can't help but embrace our inner love-child! Seriously, isn't there something so romantic and bohemian about being surrounded with rich luxurious fabrics in deep saturated color, but in a totally un-fussy, casual way?

(Elle Decor)

While we have been riding the Ikat train for about 2 years now, with no signs of stopping, (sadly, even when the train passes the passe stop, we may still be on it. We just really heart it) this whole post was sparked off by the new cover Elle Decor. The senario went something like this.

Miss. Me: Oh, joy! My new issue of Elle Decor has arrived! (Stiffels a sniffle because another month goes by without a Domino mag. We may never forgive you Conde-Nasty!

Miss. Me: (Looking at cover) Shut the front door! I need this carpet for my sea-glass hued living room! (Quickly flip inside the mag, to see who made this lovely carpet) Huh? Alexandra Wentworth did that HER SELF!? (Instantly pick up phone to call Things-We-Heart partner extraordinaire

Things-We-Heart: Hello?

Miss. Me: Ummmm did you get the new Elle Decor yet?

Things-We-Heart: Not yet, I am still waiting.... Can you believe Domino is gone? (heart wrenching sob

Miss Me: Well when you get it call me, I think we have a problem.... Either Alexandra Wentworth is a verifiable genius, or her pants are super on fire right now! (As in 'Liar, Liar pants on fire!"

Things-We-Heart: Wait.... Are you taking about Alexandra Wentworth the comedian from "In Living Color"? I am so confused!

Miss. Me: Me too partner, me too!

So for the sake of heart-ing all things in this world, including fairy-tales, we are gonna go with the "I was just fooling around one day and dyed my $5000 dollar wool carpet with this fabric dye I had... and voila!" (This is not a direct quote)
So yes genius it is!

(Elle Decor)

Amazingly enough you can mix a little Boho with a little contemporary and come up with something super fantastic! We strongly encourage mixing styles to come up with a style that is perfect for you and all your own.

We love how the blue Madeline Weinrib (who we super duper heart B.T.W) Ikat rug is set off by the white leather tufted chair and the lacquered red mini table. Red, white and blue at its best and least annoying

So, speaking of Madeline Weinrib, she is pretty much the queen of the hippy chic, glamazon bohemian textile market. If you are not already a devoted fan, we suggest you go and "window shop" her amazing collection here. Her carpets, and fabrics are so amazing and heartbreakingly perfect, you may just want to buy them all! But unless you are Oprah Winfrey you may not be able to.

(Madeline Weinrib)

(Madeline Weinrib)

Although, here is a tip, if you are ballsy enough to call ABC carpet and home and get a price quote, you will be quite surprised at how much more affordable her cotton weave (Not the wool ones, those are strictly for the fancy pants!) rugs are then you would have thought. Pretty much comparable to Pottery Barn or Room and Board

Did you know that Urban Outfitters just came out with a super amazing and adorable Ikat chair? Yummy! And affordable to boot!
This little beauty comes in blue and cream and they also have a oatmeal and cream version that is just as fabulous!

Maybe you are not ready to go full on into the fabulous world of Hippy Chic, but you want to dabble, see if it feels right for you before you blow your paycheck on any one piece. We got you covered.
All the fashionistas including the beautiful Things-We-Heart are going gaga for this easy peasy way to add a little Boho into your home.

(Anthropologie)

These adorable little bowls can be used for jewelry, to hold flowers, to house a lovely little pile of beautiful figs, or even for your morning cereal! For only $14 each, you can feel out this style without guilt!

Remember our Color Crave for lemon yellow? We still got it, bad!

(Uzbeck-Craft.com)

This sunny throw pillow would look great just about anywhere and how can it not brighten up your day? Can you not smile when you see this color? Can you? We didn't think so! Avalible from Uzbek-Craft.com, for $29 you can choose from any number of the stylish pillows they offer. If you get a whole bunch and strew them around your living room, you can pretend you are living in Jeannie's bottle from I dream of Jeannie! Who didn't want to live there?

Oh, my and Jeannie had braids too! Wow, see it all comes back around!
Remember have fun with your style, you can always try new things in small doses and take baby steps into a fabulous nest! Or go full force and grab your Rit dye and your carpet!

XOXO- Thing-We-Heart
